regulator numpty on cfr leaks
« on: January 05, 2009, 07:27:05 pm »
Hi there .Ive got a problem with my cfr500 perfect heat. When I turned it on I noticed thr pressure guage was stuck on 800 psi so I started to turn the regulator numpty down ,but the psi reading wouldnt go down ,and like a paper hat,the numpty flew off.I replaced it but it seems to be leaking around the bottom of the numpty, and the guage is still stuck on 800.Any ideas why it is leaking ,and is the guage buggered. Thanks Steve

Ive had this problem a couple of times with the 500, there is a small steel (looks like a bullett) which is behind the big numpty which is inserted into machine and is held by the spring then the numpty.

the numpty when turned puts pressure on the spring and hense the bullett and the pressure increases, have you got the bullett the right way round? are all the parts lubed with silocone grease? is the rubber seal on the bullett ok?

failing that give amtech a call their service dept is spot on and very helpfull

regards

Hi Stu,is the bullet the pin type piece that you push into the hole and is held in place by the brass washer then spring.Steve.

Hi Steve
I have just had the same thing happen this weekend halfway through a carpet. my pressure guage is stuck at 200psi and it is leaking. I took it apart and noticed that the silver bullet type thing behind the spring has a rubber gromit on it and this has a small c**** out of it so I'm hoping that this is all i need to replace. Haven't spoken to Amtech yet but will do on Monday. How did you get on?

Mike

Hi vwdub. The reason my pressure guage was stuck was due to the frost damaging it.I got a new one from amtech, easy to fit just remember to put a little tape around the joint. Also got the rebuild kit. Before inserting valve, make sure you put some silicon grease around the rubber  and put in very carefully,so you dont damage rubber again. You also get a metal piece with kit ,you dont need this.Price for parts.Regulater kit10370A+Gauge72374A=50.00.Any probs call me on 07910028671.
