Dog and Cat Mess. A whinge!
« on: March 12, 2005, 01:18:44 pm »
We do an area of Chepstow which is called Garden City, but Wor Lass calls it Poo City because it's rare that either of us can work in the place for a day without stepping in cat or dog excrement and walking it up a ladder.

I've even considered dropping the area, on one brief occasion while hosing down the smelly, disgusting brown stuff from my ladders and boots.

I know it's not the dog's fault; it's the owners.  They should clean up after their animals.  I have dropped customers before, because  the mess in their back gardens was outragous and yesterday I witnessed a Chav letting his Doberman defecate a huge 'dog egg' onto the pavement and attempt to walk away.  I shouted at him to pick it up, but he ignored me and cleared off.  Short of taking him (and his dog) on in a fight (I did say to Wor Lass, 'Look, I'll have the one in the baseball cap; you take the one with four legs', but she wouldn't); there wasn't much I could do except swear at him.  I was extremely angry and Wor Lass was very embarrassed by my behaviour.

And with cats, because they haven't got owners - they have 'staff' – I'm a little more forgiving towards their house keepers.  They're 'orrible sly-little creatures though, that poo in places purposely to catch the unsuspecting window cleaner out.

I hate them (apart from my cute little cat called Kizzy – that uses a litter tray).

Here's a photo of a Chav cat I took in Garden City yesterday:

Thank you for reading my whinge!

Hiya Tosh,
I recognise that cat ;)
But I reckon in Garden City its the 'Rat Mafia' you have to watch out for 8)
Don't know what they put in their bins down there, but it must be dead nourishing for the rats :P They're the size of Jack Russells ;D
Leave your applicator lying around and they'll widdle on it soon as look at it :-\ Forget Weils disease, its the plague I'm worried about :o

I am suprised none of us ever go ill with the amount we tread in.I had a customer that had a little Jack russell dont worry about the dog he said very friendly he assured me on my first clean at his house.I jumped over the wall he ran straight up yapping and sank his teeth in the dog that is.I ran like the clappers and never went back.

I did.. Found this scraggy looking thing that looked really ill and needed agood feed so I took it home with me (thinking I was doing a good turn) left a note on the customers door telling them whhat I'd done, got home to message from an annoyed customer "why had I taken her cat" took it straight back to get another earfull, then got it again two days later when the cat died.
Still clean the customers windows... she's got a dog now

When i worked as a warehouse manager, somehow someone managed to pack a cat in a big despatch carton with the order he had picked, sent it off to a rather large national DIY retailer, no names mentioned but don't just do it, anyway the carton goes off to a store in Aberdeen, 3 days later a rather disheveled cat launches itself straight out of the box at the starteled poor lady who was unpacking it!
I had a hell of a job not laughing while the store manager ranted down the phone at me.

Apparently the cat came out looking like this:

I came face to face with a badger a few weeks ago around the back of someones house.

The place backs onto a woods and while I was doing the downstairs windows I could hear scatching like sounds coming from a nearby clump of trees. I thought it was a cat of a fox or something normal.

When I'd finished the windows I picked up my ladder and turned round to leave and was 6ft away from this badger which was staring at me and sniffing the air.

I put my ladder against the wall (in a sort of panicky unhurried way), and climbed up it. I then flicked water at it from my applicator, which done nothing, so I then threw my applicator and then my squeegie and then my BOAB at it.

After a few minutes it cleared off back into the undergowth.

I did not realise badgers were so large. And those teeth - not nice.

Then to make it worse, when I was putting my ladder back on the van, guess what was all over the rungs ....... and on the soles of both shoes.....

Animal poo really does get my goat!

I think I'll write a letter to the local paper explaining why people should clean up after their dogs and encourage their cats to use a litter tray.

I mean I don't want to go down the 'air rifle route'.

Round the back of one house, doing downstairs window, felt something banging against my foot, looked down, tortoise head butting my foot, I couldn't believe it,  I watched it for a while, timed it just right and moved my foot, it almost fell over, came back after me.
I had a window cleaning pole with me so I flicked it over on it's back, counted a-one a-two a-three then flicked it back on to it's feet. But. it still came after me.
Told the owner to put up a sign, beware of tortoise !!

Head butting your foot!  Was it a Geordie tortoise?

I had one as a child and it was a very robust little fellow (called George funnily enough).

When it was having a poo, you could see the 'turtle's head' slowly emerge.  Then you had time to go make and drink a cup of tea, before placing the little fella on an old newspaper for his mess to go on.

No window cleaner ever trod in any of George's poo!

Tortoises are okay!
