Hi folks, getting a van/used just wanting a bit of advice.  I viewed renualt traffic today 64000 on the clock its an 04 plate £5000.  Are these good vehicles, does anyone use them??

WOW that sounds well overpriced to me,for another 5k you can get a nearly brand new 1 these days.Is that + vat aswell some of the prices i`ve seen i would say £3500 is more like it for that,but saying that i wouldn`t go near 1 of them with that mileage.

I noticed yesterday that Renualt are doing 0% over 4 years with £99.00 deposit. Did not read any small print, maybe worth looking at, at your local dealer!

I would forget it if i were you,far to much money for that why don`t you look around and buy slightly newer if you can there giving them away or they will be come the new year.On new ford vans there doing 3 years warranty and 3 years free servicing at the moment to try and get punters in,you`ll save the best part of 2k with the free servicing.

Yes they are and they also expect you to have the lot over 4yrs with only the vat down,they won`t let you put a large deposit down and then have 0% it only applies if you something like the best part of 15-16k over 4yrs.Like you say the small print.

You can only get that offer if you pay£15-16k all told for the van,if you pay cash you get a considerable amount off and by that i mean up to 3k.If you choose the 0% deal you get it interest free but it`s going to cost you long term for it because the overall price of the van is more,they give you nothing.

renault trafic,vauxhall vivaro,nissan primastar are all the same van so have a look at them all.

off subject I looked at these vans and with a bit of negotiating for around 5500/5600 you can get a 56 plate one with approx 50 on the clock....the ones which are private sale may not have vat added on,others from a trader 98% of the time will have vat added on ...not a problem though if you are vat registered!

Have been a lot of negative posts on this site about the poor reliability the trafic/primastar/vivaro vans. I would do some research to check if this criticism is warranted.

I agree. Wouldn't touch anything Renault.

Buy new. Spread the cost over 3/4 years.

But FSA rules state that you cannot discriminate against a cash or a finance deal! So if you pushed, you would get both.

The van franchise ltd. 01472 816635 ask for paul or sean. it is in grimsby but they do a top after sale service and van are at a gud price. the website is www.thevanfranchise.co.uk. its best to ring and tell them want you want.

I personally don't believe in buying new, not considering the nature of the joe , carting ladders around ,in and out of farmyards etc, a new vehicle will not make me any more money , just cost me more. Fair enough you could say in theory a newer van will be less likely to cause problems than an older 1 but thats not always the case.
Years ago my grandad and uncle both bought identical brand new cars on the same day from the same garage, one car was no trouble at all , the other was nothing but trouble , in and out of the garage from the 1st week, eventually my grandad sold it back to the garage and bought a cheap runabout car  for a few hundred quid and had no bother at all, ran it for years,until he died. My dad had a business that required a van, his 1st one cost £350, and he ran it to the ground, followed by 2 further vans the same .  His last van cost nearly 2grand and was nowt but bother from day 1.

Not new but nearly new,the thing is prices are coming down and the difference is not as big as it was a couple of years ago.

if you got the work to pay for the van, any van would do? i have a van just got it spent 5,000 i pay 150 back a month on a loan just get a van its all pot luck if you do not buy brand new.
