Pressure washing rip off
« on: December 21, 2008, 08:00:36 am »
I was at one of my customers on Thursday. Mrs Fellowes, an old lady who lives on her own, a bit on the dotty side. For some reason best known to her she had her drive and back patio pressure washed by some cowboy who had knocked on her door.
The drive is small, just a bit of hard standing for a car really and the back patio is nothing much to speak of.
The cowboy made a really rubbish job of it, pathetic wouldn't be putting too fine a point on it. Plus he managed to get water marks all over the downstairs windows and the small conservatory into the bargain.

The price -  £300!

Merry Christmas mate, where ever you are.

Ah......hem,..................I'm Irish and proud of it,I am not a Pikey but will admit the Irish Pikeys give us a bad name, especially as there is a Pikey Park nearby,my customers know I am normal and accept cheques etc. and pay my tax,why don't they send them back home like the rest of the illegal immergrants that don't pay tax and so on,they are all better off than what us tax payers are................MAKES ME SICK! >:(

for goodness sake don't be so touchy and politically correct, I would be somewhat shocked if there was anything remotely racist in that remark, surely to god us window cleaners are a little more thick skinned than to take offence at that?
I'm sure any immigrants might also take offence, so might so called 'pikey's, a pretty offensive term for a traveller or gypsy.
So please don't jump on the racist bandwagon just because it is easy to do so.

 ;D I was joking!
I  for one believe in a old saying... My Nan would often say to me as a child
(I have Ginger curly hair!) great laugh er?

Anyway she would say... "Learn to laugh at yourself, son... Everyone else will!" ::)
Not very nice, but good advice! ;)

I am Irish and a good friend takes the mick by asking me to do his driveway. I think it is quite funny really but his girlfriend is mortified every time he says it.

Look there is no anti Irish theme here, I am a quarter Irish and I didn't take offence. When I went to the old lady's on Thursday and found out what had happened my first reaction was Pikeys and its right up their street. The evidence is that it wasn't Pikeys the bloke was English and in my opinion a scumbag.

You can't really help getting water marks on windows when pressure washing?

Before I took up w/c I used to do a fair bit of pressure washing and always left loads of crap on the lower glass (patio doors my speciality ;D). Never had the courtesy to clean the crap off :o

Only gave it up as I found it too seasonal!

Simon (next stop...on TV in Rogue Traders ;D)....mind you I charged fair and square...£1 per Sq Yd.

I'm from the pressure washing side of this forum, and unfortunatlly this type of thing happens and can give our industry a bad name.

Vince if it is any use to your customer, we cover middlesex, and would be happy to have a look and do a proper job for your customer.
