Thinking about buying a new van, what about wfp system.
« on: December 07, 2008, 12:33:33 pm »
I'm thinking that I should get a new van in future, since mine is almost 12 years old.

I was just wondering what exactly you can do to it, I won't have the money to buy one outright, so it will be monthly payments. Now I'm sure that you can't start drilling holes in it for the tank cage, and apply protecta cote unless you actually own it completely. Am I right in saying that? I've never bought a new car or van, so while it might come over as a silly question to you, I'm not sure, hence why I'm asking.

btw. Are the new VW Transporters any good? They look very nice, with plenty of space.

Most leasing/contract hire companies will allow you to paint protecta-kote on and drill holes through the floor as long as the holes are filled with a rubber grommet prior to return.

Here is a quote from an actual Contract Hire company taken from another forum:

Ensure the tank is not just bolted into the floor but directly into the chassis. This is allowed so long as the holes are plugged at the contract end.......

Speedline the interior, floor to 1/4 of way up walls is fine. This removes risk of corrosion and damage to the vehicle.

With regard to the VW T5 Transporter, I reckon it is as good as it gets currently, which is why I have just ordered mine.

I have been looking at the way I work and can only come to the conclusion that a pick-up of sorts would be the most effective way of working and closed van just puts barriers in the way of working....

A pick-up with a skid mount with a hose on a swivel would make much more sense for me.....got a skid mounted tank coming but I am a long way off getting a pick-up...

Cheers
Dave.

A pick up would be a mistake IMO, with a panel van ur kit can be locked & secure.

I run a Transporter 02 at the moment & i'm about to replace it with a new van next year.

The new Transit out does all others. Don't go for a 85ps got to be at least the 110ps but
i'm going for a 140psi GLX with all the toys.

They look quite good those Transits. What Payload does the 140ps GLX have? List price?

Might be nice having all the "toys" but IMO it is just more to potentially go wrong. My philosophy is to keep things as simple as possible.

`

Couldn't agree more.

They just go on and on and on. Build quality is every bit as good as the VW. All of the guys from Grimsby who go all over the country delivering fish to households use them and they do mega mileage.

I think that some wierd bloke called Bod from the forum has one  ;D

the VW is a nice van, though the T4 ( the older vans ) seem to be a little higher thought of
