the thing is, it should be 1 rule for every1

not just 1 rule for people like LWC and 1 for window washers etc etc

shame really

But express cleaning don't sell websites!!!

:)

Lets be fair though, Ian NEVER takes advantage of the forum to advertise his business,.. and he posts plenty of helpful info,.... so everyone should be happy he's here.
Thank you Nat, I am not fighing my corner at the mo and this is very unlike me, I have plenty of things on my mind right now far more important than bickering with Matt.

I am not going to be much help at the mo tbh but people are welcome to call me should they need advice my mobile number is on my site, I will not be in office for a while.

Mark

For CIU to maintain its popularity and its no 1 position in the cleaning world, It doesnt really want to advertise other forums.

i understand all you are saying dave...but surely you guys are big enuff now to withstand a wee bit of competition even if its within your own forum, people like Peter etc etc dont seem to be too bothered if other suppliers advertise their services on their forums and as you peter is a supplier.....you guys are not going to go to the wall just coz someone like Matt comes along and does a wee bit of advertising are you? ???

Would you let your local competition advertise on the side of your van ?

Mike spends a lot of money on this site to maintain its popularity.

I'm actually surprised that he has allowed as much advertising as he has.  I think the real problem is a perceived lack of consistency though.  IMO, Mike would do a big service to himself and the forum generally if he made a more specific list of what is and is not permitted.  I believe that it would be received much better than doing temporary bans for some people for doing something that others may not get banned for.  I do agree that it's Mike's forum and it's his decision regarding who may use it.  However, laying down specifics in black and white regarding what is acceptable from suppliers would be a beneficial step forward IMO.
N.B.   I have no agenda as I'm a window cleaner - not a supplier.

Scimman

I am just a volunteer, I dont make the rules.

Shiner

The rules are, No advertising allowed from suppliers, as individuals we are allowed to talk about products and suppliers can answer no problem.  Just no blatant advertising and no weblinks to suppliers or other forums

Dont drag me into this  ;)

not dragging you into it, just making a point of 1 rule for every1, you were just a example really

im not really bickering ian, just making a point and you are a fairly visible member, thus you were a prime example, the point i was making was how do the members know whats what if we dont have 1 rule across the board, we have allready have some mention his post not getting a replies because people are scared to post links incase they are banned

What about matts missing diy link. Or was that matt playing silly buggers?  :)
Surely he can't be considered to be either?
In fact, i reckon that diy link should be a sticky somewhere on the forum. Cos when i was looking into wfp, i never had much of a clue what was what and reading more just made me more confused.
Until i looked at his site and realised it wasn't rocket science and even i could use 1 without having to pay someone else to put it all together or maintain it.

seriously, the E.MAIL address in my profile was changed, the only person able to do that will be admin, i didnt change it, honestly

it wasnt even the DIY LINK, it was just a e.mail that i could get people to e.mail for the link

it would be nice if the mods / admin could let us know why the e.mail address was taken away

As an ex-mod, I remember in the begining the rules were that suppliers could advertise, as long as they weren't OTT with their ads, and as long as they posted in a helpful manner.

I think what's changed is, this forum has gained so many experienced members, Mike doesn't really care if suppliers post or not; and if they want to advertise, then they should pay or stay away.

He's treating them like some little 'night-club hussy'; he's had his use out of them, and now he's discarding them like a bit of used toilet roll.

I still like this forum though.

Well im back.

Im a fair guy and to be honest i really wouldnt of minded a slap on the wrist or a warning. I didnt blantantly advertise as in putting up posts as i have seen before (mention no names). But to be banned...and for a first offence was in my opinion a little hasty and puts me in 2 minds whether to stay on here or not.

Ive been on this forum for 2 years now and have put alot of input into it, pretty much every day i post and try to be as helpful as i can.

At the end of the day im not out to steal anyones custom, im here to help people out which i enjoy doing hence the reason why i have started doing this.

All i can say is i hope all the other suppliers received the same treatment i did, as i think if they didnt it would be unfair.

Like i say im a genuine guy tell me if somethings wrong, dont ban me. How come all the other suppliers have cruised through for so long? A newbie like me that i think put a link to my email address and just mentioning ive started doing has been up for 2 weeks gets this treatment.

Anyway guys thanks for kind comments, ;D but i doubt ill be posting on here as much as i have been doing.

Mike spends a lot of money on this site to maintain its popularity.

Really?? Forums cost nothing to run,.. and he isn't paying you (He probably should IMO for all you have to put up with!),... where's the money being spent?

this is a fairly busy forum though, its not on a dedicated server i doubt ( if it is, its a waste of money ) shared hosting costs, 100 quid a year ( if that )

its a shame that the forum has come to this, i thought a forum was supposed to be a community of window cleaners working together to improve their skills and share experiences, the other forums i am on certainly have that approach and i thought this one was too, but obviously not, so for that reason i am out 8)
