There's worse forums than this,... cleantalk for example (Carpet cleaning),..

I think Dave takes a lot of flack about this stuff, and he doesn't deserve it. He just mods,.. forum policy isn't his to make or break. Considering the situation I think he handles things rather well!

It seems really strange that you can help people build a succesfull business on here,

which could  affect some of the others guys on here,   , for example , competition will be increased in many areas as a direct result of people on here helping others prosper.

Yet you cant advertise yourself as a supplier on here, which is obviously because of competition.

Unless you have been on here a long while, and you scratch each others back etc.

There have been many threads with new suppliers popping on here from time to time.... or an agent advertising their company, which in my opinion is very helpful and gratefully accepted by a heck of a lot of people on here,

Because as a small business with prices as they are, and with most of us having to pay buy via the internet, plus postage... A New supplier is another option to look at for us all.... very benificial to people just starting out, or simply to have another option...

So Forums are to help each other, to further build their businesses, or to gain help in how to start up....

its all help.... but its all competition too.

So whats the difference in a new supplier popping on here to help out... and creating a little competition?

 ;)

Google adwords etc.

The hosting for 15000 members, just think of the traffic , this isnt a forum with 20 members on at any one time

12 Guests, 143 Users on right now, its not going to put strain on a ZX spectrum

seriously, i have board that right now has 417 members on right now ( no guests as they have to sign up ) i admit some of them will be search engine spiders ( but that will be under 10 of them )

Of course i understand that... why not delete some of the old 100,000 topics from years gone by.

its nothing to do with google ads , its about competition, thats why its frowned upon when other forums are mentioned on here.

im not one for putting strong views on a forum, but when someones says pop on to my site and i will show you what i am selling....!!!

How is that affecting anyone or anything....among colleages.....

business is business..

Who knows the figures and its value? Only mike boxhall really.
But the value of running a large cleaning forum like this must be quite high.
Does it translate into new contracts and business? I think it must do but i'm only guessing.
Forums are cutting edge for innovation, news and latest products.
And this is why i reckon it's been a good thing to have suppliers posting.
Where else can we learn about every level of our business.
What gear to buy? Where? How to clean this? How to pick work? How much to charge? Signwriting, clothing, websites and software. H&S.
The best info is all here.
As i'm still in the process of growing my business i've been pretty hooked since i joined. I keep coming here cos i still learn about what is better or more suitable to where i am at the moment.
Having suppliers around adds to the value of this forum in my opinion.

This is exactly my point....its ok to advertise another forum exists which is equally as good as this one, and , indirectly advertising... i might add ...

but its not ok to say , hey guys... im starting to sell window cleaning equipment.. here is my link...

i think LWC deservers an apology.

The rules are, No advertising allowed from suppliers, as individuals we are allowed to talk about products and suppliers can answer no problem.  Just no blatant advertising and no weblinks to suppliers or other forums

How come that people like Glyn Howard are allowed then to put direct links to their products.
Dont get me wrong i believe they should be allowed as it would imo benefit all of us....but to say no blatant advertising from suppliers is a bit hypocritical isn't it?

Like the rest of this country...one rule for one and one rule for the others.

Oh ....i thought there would be some reason.
As i say one rule for one and a differant set for others.... :)

I better not put up my link then for the new design of window scraper that can be attached directly to the head of all standard wfp brushes...damn ;)

There is only one rule for everyone, i have no favourites and no one gets special treatment.

Like i said the only trouble is, blatant advertising and weblinks, If someone asks you about a product thats fine feel free to answer and big it up to your hearts content.
If you think you should be allowed to be exempt from the rules for any reason whatsoever, email Mike.
