Shamed into working today
« on: December 03, 2008, 06:26:31 pm »
I took my daughter to the bus station this morning, about 7.15am, it was so cold it took me 15 minutes to defrost my van, and it just about had enough battery to start. Ice every where. Me thinking im going back to bed when I get back, so I get into that mindset, you know what I mean when you start making excuses to yourself. I then see this guy WFP'ing a large store, so I pull up and say "youre having a laugh aint you" he just laughs, and I drive off, but I tell you what I felt shamed. So i keep telling myself who wants their windows cleaned in these conditions, ie dripping water running everwhere.
Got home wife ill so we watched a couple of her films {Harry sodding Potter} that was enough to  make me keep thinking I should so get out there. So at about 11.00 when it was laughably warming up I went out and did some domestics. The third job I did the bloke comes out and said your bloody mad doing that in this weather its freezing, he didnt object though and gave me a bottle of wine. Finished my part day went home happy, and warm.
If it wasnt for that bloke working at 7.30ish I would have bunked off honest, but I just kept thinking if he can do it so can I.
Man I find it so hard to keep motivated in these temperatures, especially early mornings.

Yup ive found it difficult lately, just have to keep plodding away.

Massively full day tomorrow - i doubt i'll get it all done, and im expecting it to rain according to the forecast.

personally i get stuck watching Top Gear on Dave..

TBH i wouldn't mind bunking it off of i actually did something like paperwork or work on flyers, new website etc - but no its TV..

its not the cold its the snow  ;D

I like the cold.. its the slippery conditions that do me. TBH is a lack of motivation to get out of bed - i think i have that seasonal affective disorder - come summer im up and out first light..

Still looking forward to Jan/Feb, even if i cant work, i will flyer and canvass big time.. The new website will have been published by the new year, and the flyers would have been designed, printed and delivered.. its just down to me then... whatever the weather.

Sounds like we got the summer brigade on here lol. For you boys down south like me if you seriously think bombing out cause it -1 outside should maybe get a pen pushing job. What you going to say to ya mortgage company at the end of the month "sorry mate to cold to work this month" ;D.
Granted the boys up north struggle with the weather ( proper cold weather).
The inside of the roof of my van i iced and its 7pm so what i put the heater in for 30 mins at 5.30am tommorow and out i go.
Anyway thats my groan for the day  ;)

Don't mind working in the cold at all. My dilemmas are "am I doing the job right"(serious) and "hope they think I am"(equally serious) ;D There is the point where it just doesn't work. This afternoon I did a house about 3pm. House no problem. Tried to do conservatory roof and it froze instantly. Got to know when to call it a day

Good shoes, good gloves. If you are still cold then, you are either in your underwear or not working hard enough.  ;D

Just kidding, I usually find that to be true though, a good scarf and high collar winter jacket goes a long way for the winds as well.

7:30 is late. I was on the windows at 5:50. I aont kiddin I really was, I had to get this commercial done on a walkway and it has to be completed before 7am. It was so cold I just couldnt stop thinking about my warm bed. the good thing is that later in the day people were telling me how cold is was and how coud I cope when I felt ok, afterall it warms up durring the day

If it is freezing conservatorys often freeze because they are not usually heated.

I find house windows OK as the house is heated. Just try to avoid conseratorys if you think it is going to freeze.
