HOW MUCH?
« on: November 24, 2008, 09:05:00 pm »
I know it depends on a few different things but just for a rough idea how much would you guys/girls charge for 1 lounge carpet and 4 bedrooms carpets?

3 of the rooms are average house size rooms and 2 are small bedrooms.

Just going to price the job tomorrow morning ?

Thanks Ralph

£150 as a rough guess, £30 per room.
Looking at 3 hours work for 1 man.

Try £95 that'll get you it.
People are tightening their belts.
£150 and they'd laugh you out the door here.

Presuming you're doing all of the carpet in the bedrooms, and presuming room sizes typical for a 4-bed detached house of:

lounge 220 ft
bed 110ft
bed 100
bed 80
bed 70

(total 580 ft)

Approx £175

What about the stairs and landing?!  Gonna float over them on the way to the bedrooms?

Still presuming we're talking about a decent 4-bed detached, it's probably a C-shaped landing of at least another 80 ft and a set of stairs with a half-landing...

230 quid all in, one day, one job, simple.  Home in time for Countdown.  Shame Vorderman's getting a bit wrinkly now :(

Ralph Jims works out at 30p sq foot my suggestion is 35p as i charge. Only you can decide but PLEASE don't work for some of the silly LOW prices that are quoted £90 less running cost which are not small over a year make these sort of prices a nonsense you might aswell go and stack shelves at Tesco's Not that there is anything wrong with that ;)

Your posts have ALWAYS been very refreshing and honest. Good to see you have followed your own instincts and raised prices gently.

As you'll notice, there are a fair number of new posters with greatly differing attitudes. What's interesting, is that a number of " more established " c/c's have been posting some excellent stuff without making daft claims.
