note to rules

The rules are, No advertising allowed from suppliers, as individuals we are allowed to talk about products and suppliers can answer no problem.  Just no blatant advertising and no weblinks to suppliers or other forums

Can you clarify this ruling please as I am a little confused is it just equipment suppliers or does this include service providers, trades bodies etc. That is what chris has implied in the deleting my account thread hence the request for clarification. The reason I ask is I notice that the guild post has gone now and wondered if it has fallen foul of the new ruling. If it has then I am quite surprised about this as the Guild is is a not for profit association and can hardly be classed as a rival business as no one makes a penny from it, the people who give their time do so for the mutual benefit of it's members and ultimately all window cleaners and our industry. If you look on the website we have a link to here so rather than actually take business away the guild is in a position to send customers here. Also I am currently working on some special members offers so If Mike would like to take part then please feel free to contact me to discuss it, he is more than welcome. This is another example of how the guild could actually benefit CIU/Express rather than hinder it's business operations. I hope you don't mind me using the guild as an example but I have used it as an example as I know how it operates although most if not all the points I have made could equally apply to the other associations.

Therefore may I suggest a compromise, how about a new section for the trade associations across the cleaning industry? There is already an events section.
Anyway the suggestions there please at least consider it.
Thanks
Pete

some good comments there peter,  as co-founder of the mgwc i agree with what you say, i think there is more than enough room for suppliers to sell their wares on here, and the admin would be in a better position to laydown the rules and ban people if they tried to sell outwith that new section you suggested , which i would support.

I think you should email Mike Boxhall directly about the guild.

Let Mike have a look and see if you can come to an agreement.

Right, Have spoke to Mike and this is what he has said regarding the guild-

"Hi Pete

Thanks for your email.

Generally what we are trying to do is ensure that those that are aiming to profit from other members are the ones that have to pay to advertise. I am keen to support trade associations where there is mutual support for the forum so, bearing in mind I've not really looked at the post in question, my initial thought is that I'm happy for it to be advertised without charge. However, we obviously reserve the right to review this as we develop the site and the way it is run.

Hope that helps

Regards

Mike"

So thats the ruling from Mike himself. I think he has been very fair and wish to thank him for his willingness to work towards a compromise regarding this issue.
