if you have 2 pressure gauges(PG) then you need to set the first one to 400psi and never touch it, adjust the pressure of the machine with the second.

your (P/G) might  adjust above the rating of the pump so imagine if you tighten it up to a potential setting of 1000psi it will blow the seals of your 400psi pump, so by having your first PG set to 400psi (and never adjusting it)  it safeguards the pump. because no matter how high the second PG it set the pump will always bypass through the first PG @ 400psi

hope this makes sense :)

The plastic one is flow I think not pressure; also internal piping I think is rated at 300psi

Not one of the best designs and thanks for the loan and sorry for twiddling with the numptys. Would like to see there 400 not a upgrade.

Chris

Didn’t notice the drop with the indicator by twiddling with the plastic numpty, but did notice a big drop in water consumption, ??? perhaps a warning light/bell should be fitted, ;) anyway got the job done as a pre-spay unit, which has now been superseded. 8) ::)

just a quick tip about pumps.

(usually) anything that is fastened with a jubilee clip is low pressure and supplies the pump anything with a crimped fitting is post pump and is at the pressure of the pump.

might sound simple but it can get a bit confusing when you look inside.
