In your expert opinions what do you think is the best vacuum cleaner for pre-vac purpose?  I've been using a Dyson (the new ball one) which does a great job but the wife wants it back!!

I'm looking to purchase one but not sure which one to get.

Any ideas please??

i use a sebo, very good, got a bag, butr better than my dyson at home.

I've had a Royal for about a year now.  Wouldn't be without it but never properly used the Sebo BS ones to compare for day-to-day use, they're probably the closest contenders.  The best thing about the Royal is the vibration it makes, it's unbelievably good for back-dusting rugs.

The sebo bs36 is a great bit of kit but i have left it in the van of late as i purchased a sebo dart2 more power better in domestic situations

I have a Sebo BS36 for business (14" head), a Sebo Felix for home (12" head)
also for business a 2nd hand Kirby which is great but a nusance if you want to use the flexi pipe to do the edges.

I used one for a couple of months but found that

1)  They broke very easily getting them in and out of the van,
2)  The hose kept splitting
3)  Every house i went to had one "oh I,ve got one of them "

 I then got a sebo bs36, looks more proffesional they dont say
"oh I,ve got one of them "

 I have had it in and out of the van for nearly 4 years now not one fault and looks good still .

I use the Sebo dart 2 for domestic, has lots of power and really pulls the pile up. The customers can see the difference compared to the Dyson. I find alot of my customers do not like their Dysons and would not buy another one.

i've been advised not to use a domestic on business, maybe people dont want to pay a specialist cleaner to use the same machine they have

No problem each to their own ehh? We've never had any problems with them and they are not cheap hoovers

when a customer says to me "its ok, you don't need to hoover, ive allready done it with my dyson" i get out my sebo, put in a clean bag and vaccuum, then i show the customer whats in the bag, so far ive sold 2 sebo's at a £30 profit on each. remember, the sebo has twin motors, way more powerful, and last a lot longer, shame about the stair attachment though, its a bugger lifting it up and down each step.

Spot on Derek,

The separate brush motor does a great job. The hand pipe system is a lot less fiddly. I wish the filtration was as good as the Dyson though.

Sebo also has a commercial warranty.

For the big jobs we use a pilelifter. It does about 8 mph in top gear!. Sometimes there's hardly any dirt left on the carpet after the pre vac. Before some smart Alec says it... yes there is some pile left on the carpet afterwards

We get that as well Derek - I have already hoovered and our crappy dysons cylinder fills to the brim with dirt and fluff. Just think some people don't know how to hoover properly.

God I'm feeling a bit inferior now with my dysons!!

Main reason I dont like Dysons (apart from the fact they fall to pieces-although recent adverts re impressive), is that he is a self made millionaire in his own lifetime.

He has done that by selling vac cleaners (twin drum washing machines didnt really take off did they!).

This must mean he is vastly overcharging for each machine.

and now he has taken the work abroad.

Cheers guys,  a sebo looks favourite then - just got to decide on whether to get the BS36 or a dart model. Which ones easier for doing stairs as most of my jobs are domestic.

Don't worry about the stairs performance.

For under twenty quid you can get a hand vac that's great for stairs. Try somewhere like Argos.

C'mon seriously....

How can anyone expect to get serious recognition as a professional if they're using the same type of vacuum cleaner, or possibly a WORSE vacuum cleaner than their clients??!   The best kept carpets I clean are owned by customers who have Sebo vacuum cleaners.  I compliment them on this.

Then I tell them how much better my Royal is
