Right, bear with me...

My battery had been lasting a day, tops.

I spent £50 on a smartcharger which could apparently recondition my tired (although only 6 month old) battery.

I did it's rejuvinating thing all weekend.

Today it went flat at 1.30pm.

Now...
The best way to get power back up apparently is a slow charge.

So I set it to 2 amps, and it says it's full after only 9 hours.
Now an 85amp battery should take more like 40 hours at 2 amp! (I planned an 8amp boost later).

That means only 18 amps gone in, and it's full.

So...

My pump uses 6amps per hour.
Does this mean it will last 3 hours max tomorrow?

There is a technical term for it and it starts with F. In other words its knackered as you say.

These batteries get on my nerves, they don't last any time at all and they cost a fortune. How come a car battery can last years and yet these things go for a few months at best?

If you want to borrow my liesure battery from my caravan, you're welcome to it for a few weeks while you sort yourself out.

just wire your pump off the van battery. it takes about an hour to do

A super charge or what is known as a boost charge on a lead acid battery is the worst thing you can keep doing to them.
 
The charger forces in higher amps, these higher amps heat up the plates, if they get too hot, your acid bubbles and then the plates buckle,  your battery soon becomes knackered.

Well at 2 amps there isn't enough hours in the day to charge it.

pop along to your local recycling place

park the van close to where they put the dead batteries and take 1 or 2, try them out and you will most prob get lucky with a ok battery

failing that, pop along to your local scrap yard and ask them to buy 1 ( they will charge you a fiver ) when they scrap cars they have no use for the battery

It's a Battery Megastore "Leisure Power" whatever that is!
About £57 it was I think.

i buy from the scrappy mine has lasted a year and when it goes ill buy another
