Zensorflex would be my choice, it might not be quite long enough for you, you could buy 2 of them ( you can use the 2 base sections for a extra 6 ft and keep the other bits for spares), thus 40 quid ( ish )
£40 each or for two?
I was hoping to keep this down to £50 tops really.

Are you saying they are 6ft sections? :o

What about the Gangsta?
What's the difference between that and Z'flex? (in window cleaning use)

40 quid for the pair ( they are 20 quid each )

sections are about 3 ft long, but if you pair them up, they are of course 6 ft

Gangster is longer, its 50 - 60 quid, its carbon and lighter, but thinner

Is the Zensorflex heavy then?

I don't mind paying £59 for the Gangsta, but if the Z'flex is good why waste money?

Oh, and the gangsta is bigger and more expensive; do you need the extra height?

One Zensor will do you for all your 1st and ground floor work.

Two cheap Zensors will give you enough height to reach 3 storey stuff; and you'll have a load of spare sections (the thinner ones) for when you or your customers go stamping on them too.

Then later, you can get a bigger - better quality - Gangster for 'best' (high work); when you can afford it.

I'm guessing the above is what Jeff and Matt is saying.

Sounded to me that your a bit unsure so I suggested taking the cheaper easier option. But the Zensor is approx 18ft and I thought you wanted a bit higher so also suggested the Gangsta 30ftish. But then again if you get your SL1 fixed you may not need the Gangsta.
You will find the Zensor a lot bendier than the SL1
Hope this helps I know it can be really confusing so make a decision and just do it.

It's an SL2, and nearly every section is broke or knackered in some way.
Need a new complete pole.
Top section is ok, so fishing pole could slide into that with no modifications at all, except maybe sawing a bit off.

You say Zensor is 18ft, but 8M is 24ft. ???
Is that because the top couple are too thin?
I don't like bendy poles, so would I prefer Gangsta then?
I've got some houses where I go 20ft at under 45degrees.
Tough even with SL2.

20ft at 45 degrees is when you can damage yourself. The Zensor will be really bendy like that and you will have to stretch. You also need the Gangsta then. Now its not as stiff as the SL but it will be ok

.I would guess that the wall thickness is thicker than the SL but not as much c/f so not as stiff.

How many is 'some houses'?  Is getting a Gangsta worth the extra cost for maybe two houses?  And then you'd be using this one pole on ALL your work; thereby knackering it up quickly.

Wouldn't the cheaper Zensor be better for your routine work, and then getting a Gangster when finances improve?

(I'm just playing Devil's Advocate here).

If you want, you can call tomorrow morning and have a bash at my Zensor; it'll have to be before 8.30/8.45 am though.  Bring your brush, 'cos mine is heavy and maybe won't give a true reflection of what the pole is like; maybe?

Even if you order a pole now, it'll not arrive any sooner than if you order one tomorrow morning.

Regards,

Tosh.

Some houses is only 4 actually.
But due to awkwardness they're £15 each and I can do them all in just over an hour.
At £60 by 10 o'clock they're some of my best jobs.
I'd rather keep them.

I wouldn't use it all the time either.
As with my SL2, it's only when my 12ft extender doesn't reach.

I may call round if I'm early enough.
I can do the house opposite while the traffic dies down!
If I'm not there by 8.40ish though, don't hang about obviously!

So order a Gangster then; and in a week-or-so order a Zensor!

And a 12 foot pole is too short; I bet when you use that your hands are up by your chest and face most of the time; that's too short in my humble opinion; which is why you've worn your SL2 out, which should've been kept for 'best'.

Still, I could be wrong; give me a shout, mate, if you want to have a shot of my DIY jobbie.

I'd like to have a go at your SL2; I've had a shot of Ian_Giles's, but that was ages ago.

No probs.  I'll see you in the morning if you're there.

PS.  What's Jeff on about with his 4th section of zensor to fit onto the gangsta?  You just think you're about sorted and he chucks in a 'wild card'?  Still, it's well past his bedtime.

I cope fine with a 12ft pole.
Enough for 70% of houses I reckon.
Some days SL2 barely comes out at all.
Like you say though, I probably stretch more often than I should.

Don't forget mate, I'm not 4ft 8". ;D

You can look at my SL2, but you'll have a job to have a go on it.
That's why I need a new pole!

See you in the morning, if you can make it out of your 'scratcher' on time.

Gangster pole arrived today.

Lovely kit! 8)
A bit of a rough carbon feel to it, but rigid and light.

The top 3 or 4 sections are tiny, so they're useless, but the rest will slot straight into my SL2 top section.
Job done.

The tube that it comes in fits onto the end to give another 5ft section.
It actually sleeves over it, rather than inside.

Result is, from a 33ft pole I reckon with the old top section I've got a usable 27ft pole.
And for £59 that is a result! :)
