Squeaks,

Have you got enough information to sort a DIY pole out?

FAO: Matt or Jeff

Gangsta pole:
What length are the modular sections of this pole?
Is it carbon or carbon composite with glass?
In comparison to a SL-2 how fragile would you rate the gangsta pole.

Reason I ask is because I can see the benefits of using very light fishing poles and I'm looking for a 24ft actual working height minimum and short length modular sections, ideally 4ft or shorter, carbon preferably and strong, able to withstand some neglect from a window cleaner who throws the poles around the place whilst working. Willing to go to £200 what would you advise ticks all the requirements mentioned above.

to be honest i dont know if its carbon or carbon composite, i just know its very light

i will measure the length tomorrow for you if no1 else comes along ( its bleeding freezing out and im sat in my shorts ), i have glued them in 2 piece lengths ( just makes it easier to put together ) leaving the last bit ( the brush length ) between 3 & 4 ft long for downstairs, i have used different coloured tape around the joints to aid quickness of putting it together, its also important as it stops the pole jamming ( by going in to far )

tosh, if you use a unger 3 X 2M pole now, the RT Zensorflex is the exact same length, give it a whirl, its 21 quid

Like I said, as long as I can stick the plastic screw bit in the end it's done isn't it?
Can't see how that could be too much problem. ???

I've got links to the fishing suppliers but the websites don't specify clearly wether fishing poles are glass fibre, carbon, carbon composites and what lengths the sections are. That's why I'd like some info from Matt or Jeff regarding my earlier post.
Its down to the £££ Zensor 18ft -cheapest is glassfibre, Gangsta 29ft is a carbon composite and about £70, F16 is high carbonfibre content,41ft  £250. So if you find a pole that compares with the prices you will know what your paying for. They are all made by spinning  on an individual mandrel and baked in an oven.

Cut the alu tube 2 1/4" from tip and then cut the RT tip, glue and fit the alu piece inside. Fit the elbow after drilling two new adapter holes- they have to be exactly at the correct angle or the tools will be lob sided  :D
I started with a Leeda Blue diamond but its no longer made the F16 was the nearest I could get to it. The £250 package is unbeatable value.
I suggest everyone start with a Zensorflex as you will need the no4 section to make a top piece that will fit on most other poles. Then if the 29ft Gangsta is high enough use that but if you need to go higher then get the F16 or a Sl2 or Emporium which will all take extension sections.
There are a lot of makes and it does get really confusing if you try to absorb it all in one go.
Back in a mo with pic from the diy site- if I can get it to post without getting blocked- this darned glitchy forum. Watch this reply for update.

http://ht tp://http ://
//  i215  .photo  bucket.com/ albums/cc114/JeffBrimble/2008_0828CillBrush0077.jpg[/img] Join the gaps and you get my above pic. This forum blocks it when its written like that. So .... after the img bit remove the ht tp bit until ypu get to the i215. then paste into your text.
But you have to join photobucket and load your pics onto your own albumthere first, then copy the img link 4rth option in bucket when you have loaded it. Thats a nights work if you havent done it before as the usa site is slow this time of the day ;D

Oh stuff Matt I will post it over on your forum as its blocking my text here ... again.  ::)

Jeff, that's far more complicated than I need to do. :o

All I'll do is cut the pole at the point where it's just wide enough to wedge in the plastic thread for attaching my plastic swivel head.

the advantage of the unger bit inside ( or outside the pole ) is that you get ALOT more surface to glue

ive had minenow for just over 1 year and its only just come unglued ( last week as it happens ) i dried it off and gave it a wrap or 3 or tape and it was good for the day, i than put some more glue on and i trust it will last another year

mr brimble i must add this to the cheap zenoflex pole idea. with these pics i'm gonna add is all you need and on the section you trim down Jeff with the straight bit you only need to trim a couple of inches, and the plastic fantastic fits on the screw thread, and Jeff you know where to get these from you use one of there poles or helped reach new heights 80 plus feet

When i made my second Gangsta type pole  i used the bottom four inches of the discarded section to beef up the top section of with the pole with the thread. I left the threaded bit attatched to about four inches of metal broomhandle and bonded it in. Zensorflex are glassfibre and a little stronger. Gangsta is carbon composite, very light, a little whippy but great to use. However, fishing poles are always fragile and won't take abuse. Don't try pushing windows shut and certainly don't tread on them.  :-[
