Rog,

Stick a link up from where you bought it; I'm going to get one.

Cheers.

Gangster pole arrived today.

Lovely kit! 8)
but the rest will slot straight into my SL2 top section.

Result is, from a 33ft pole I reckon with the old top section I've got a usable 27ft pole.
And for £59 that is a result! :)

Rog,

Be honest, how does the Gangster DIY pole compare with your SL2?

Obviously haven't used it yet, but it feels slightly more bendy, yet similar weight.
It's really light.
It's a bit rougher in your hand, as I guess it's just not sanded off.

Feels just as strong too, as the carbon fibre wraps around the pole like on SL2, as opposed to along the pole on SL1.

This is where I got it.
Seems to be £20 cheaper than everywhere else, and I got it next day.

If the top section doesnt fit properly inside the Sl2 use tape on the tip or the base of the gangster to pack it out as needed. Push it in until its NEARLY home and rattle the tip inside the sl2 section if it rattles wrap a turn or two of pvc tape to pad it out similar with the base of the sl2 where it meets the gangster if there is a gap wrap tape rounf the gangsta to take up the play.

Rog, it won't be as strong as the S2 more like the S1 so you'll have to be gentle with it. The base section though is very strong. I would chop the base off the last section you chuck away to strengthen the tip of your pole if you can. Just superglue it on.

Good idea.

Jeff, if it goes in too far then I could always cut a few inches off.

Has anyone made up a 40' pole from fishing poles?

I'd be interested to know, because it would be worth it to do some of those occasional high jobs.

Tosh, before you do, have a go with mine.

It's way bendier than the SL2.
Not what I was led to believe.

I got the work done that I needed it for, but it wasn't easy.
You're waiting for it to snap.

Seems ok when working straight up, but not at an angle.

thats a issue the RT z-flex doesnt really suffer with, mine has very little flex

thus if i go higher i add to the bottom sections

Hang on, I was told the Zensorflex will too bendy for that job, and I'll need the Gangster!
So i've been given the wrong advice and spent more money i didn't have. :(

Look!

20ft at 45 degrees is when you can damage yourself. The Zensor will be really bendy like that and you will have to stretch. You also need the Gangsta then. Now its not as stiff as the SL but it will be ok

.I would guess that the wall thickness is thicker than the SL but not as much c/f so not as stiff.

Arghh I see, what you (all) needed was or is proof, you needed a pic like this but of the comparison between the zen and the gangster.  I will try and get it right next time  :-[  will post a pic laters.

The stiffest is the emporium next is the f16 and bendiest is an Unger - all with a 1lb weight on the end. But best to use a light brush.

jeff is right, but if you had got 2 zensorflex's and extended from the bottom, you would have had 4 base sections that will not bend

also, if you get a zenserfles, you can mix the bottom few sections and do away with some of the gangsta sections to get the same height, the bottom sections are of course thicker

to get to roughly 10 M i use only the base section and 2 sections of the gangsta, the rest are Z-flex

I could probably mix and match with the SL2.

It's only the big sections that are broken.

Thats very surprising the base sections by their diameter should have the most strength, did they split lengthways ?

Was chatting to Scott today (Esselle pole repairs), he can make an "Incresa" piece that would join a Gangster to an F16 extension section for approx £25. That would give you a  way to get to 35-40ftish actual pole height by using 2 x F16 extension sections for £105 added to a £60 gangster = £200 ish.
