i said keep your money you need it more then me,

I've used this one a few times.

I say: "Please don't let it worry you.  If you need the money so badly that you have to resort to cheating me, then you have my heartfelt sympathy.  Keep the money and I sincerely hope things improve for you soon."

That takes the wind out of their sails, and while they're trying to think up a suitable reply, I move smartly out of earshot ;D

I dont know how people can ask you to clean there windows and not pay you, I think window cleaners who let there bill mount up have a little to do with this in the sense that if they had a window cleaner that often did there windows when they were not in and just left it untill they caught them in. The customer is then used to not making any effort what so ever to make payment to there window cleaner and when the first window cleaner finally gets fed up with them, they chuck them and the next window cleaner has problems with them because of this.

However the most in my opionion just dont care, and really dont care about saving face when it comes to not paying there window cleaner.

As much as I would like to do the return the dirt to the window policy, its just not ethical. However I do black list them and keep a record of money owed incase they ask me to go by again or to a new address.

I would however and it maybe something that I will produce, is a welcome pack. Something just to make clear the expectation on both parts. You could discuss cleaning in bad weather, go backs if the job isn't up to scratch, and payments late or otherwise.

If I ever do it, I will post all you guys a copy.

Gerard  :)

So, take some spiders round and place em on the window sill and spray some sugar solution for the flys :P

I've watched them do this. It's fascinating if your into wildlife but very frustrating if your a window cleaner as they do get you into trouble. I've had to defend myself often over the years over the spider web issue, sometimes successfully and sometimes not. What annoys me is when the customer won't even check their actual windows to see if they are clean just to save face. At that point I'll dump them. But I also keep a record of who do this in case they ever ask me to do their windows again.

i have a few non-payers too. not nice at all. one custie was always at home to pay me cash, then for four cleans (16 weeks) she wasnt at home, bill amounted to £60. sent a reminder, then a final reminder, nothing.....  :'(          like mentioned earlier in this post, people start to realise they can use you, ditch you and get another cleaner when you dont come back.

there should be a webpage on this site  where we could put the name and address of non paying custies to warn fellow cleaners they are high risk custies... bit like the rogue customers website............

what you think, administrators of cleanitup, are you reading this  ;)

I do a row of 4 terraced houses, with back gate entrances, dont like these jobs but as 4 in a row its quick and easy money. One of these didnt pay for 2 cleans so I put the other 3's prices up and told them it was to counter the twat who aint paid. They wore it ,and didnt think much of the guy who didnt pay.

This has been suggested before and I think it's a great idea but I think somebody said it wouldn't be legal...data protection and all that ::)
