the cigarette lighter plug and socket get VERY HOT ( ive had them melt )

for the price of a spare battery and a set of croc clips ( must be 45 quid ) is it worth it

you could also pop to a scrap yard and get a scrap battery for a fiver ( i know a few have done that here , i got mine for free, not intentional though, my 85 amp hour leisure battery dropped and cracked open on my drive, i took it to the recycling place as it was no good to me and they had loads of batteries in a pile, i took 1 of them, now that was recycling )

Car batteries are not designed to be run for long periods, they have a very high ampage basically to "start" the engine.

You idealy want a lower ampage battery that can last over a longer period. (gel batteries are ideal for this).

i was thinking about setting this upfor while my trolley was packed in car between jobs but never did because id heard it makes your car battery go dead quickly? so you just wire it up to the fuse on the pump box?

plenty use car batteries though, i know my old ( recycled ) motorbike battery has lasted me 1 year now ( i dont know how old it was when i picked it up )

i charge it every night and its fine

i run my pumps (2) off the main battery month of using it, no problems at all

i was sceptical about it, but aked on here and afew do it so tried it. and its always charged

i even did a big job, was there all day. finished went back to van, fine started first time

I know a chap who ran his from his van battery and a couple of times he flattened his van battery on large jobs and had to bump his van.

I suppose it would be ok if you were driving between jobs through the day but if you are likely to be in one place all day tou would be better off getting a seperate lesiure battery that way if you did flatten the battery your van/car would still start

I had an old car battery, that wouldn't start my car, but I used it all day window cleaning. and charged it up at night. I have since bought a heavy duty car battery, which is guaranteed for 2 years, it would have been 3 years but I wasn't using it on a vehicle. I charge this battery at weekends and it lasts all week.
