Well after having the idea to build my own gutter vac system way back in Jan this year, today was the first day!

Here is a photo! ask away...

I take it the machine you got was from Eastern Trading Company. How are they to deal with? Did it arrive ok?

How is the suction on the machine? Does it get the settled sand from the gutter?

How does it cope with gutter blockages like the ones with weeds growing out, especially on the entrance to the down pipes? or do you use some sort of tool to break it up first?

there's 3 questions for the moment, i'll ask some more later..

Ive got a number of customers that want their gutters cleaning out, this look like a much better idea than using a ladder, bucket etc..

Also what pole have you used? Or did you go with the down pipe option?

Be honest with you, the extension reel I used wasn’t man enough for the watts of the vacuum (3200watts) yes got the vacuum cleaner from Eastern Trading Company, and been happy with dealing with them had no problems, and we did have a weeds growing at one part and we just had to get the steps out to remove but you can get a gutter spike from omnipole

Ive placed my order for the vac, so hopefully it should turn up by next day delivery. so thats either thurs or fri (dependant on when they process the order).. I will then look to get larger pipe (51mm) and inlet connection. See how well it performs using a ladder, then if its does the job well, i'll look to get a pole system..

What was the problem with the extension reel? Did it get too hot?

How many SL2 sections did you go for in the end for the pole?

Poleman you can make up your own extension  lead, go to an electrical wholesaler and ask for heat resistant cable that's used for emmersion heaters, it has chalk inside the cable to dissapate the heat and its man enough for your motors on your vac.

Do you have a link for Eastern Trading Company?

Chris...51mm inlet for the Vacuum Cleaner you can buy from moreclean when you get the 51m hose and just araldite it to front of the inlet of your vac, then it will take the 51mm hose, when you get the SL2 poles speak with them about a u bend, only one thing tho!...moreclean did take for ever to get me sorted! so I would look around before using them, but up to you!

You think about 15 metres will do the job? Once the vac arrives ok, i'll get onto moreclean. I'll ask them how quickly they can deliver. I'll look about too.

I'll ask my electrician family member to sort me out with a decent cable reel, or fix me up with something.

Just jotted it down on the calender, hope to see you there ;)

Apart from H&S issues with running live cables and the voltage for external use ;) you can have what size cable you will need, its only over a certain distance you will start getting a noticable voltage drop, but I can't see you needing a cable that long, unless you plan to plug it into my house and run to Yeovil Collage with it? ;D ;D

Chris your link doesn't work for eastern trading :'(

Cool, see you there, it might be a push getting it all done within the week lotted! as they got us in for half term! because of H&S, so if we need a extre pair of hands, would you consider jumping in with us! at your rate! (if you have time) Andy

OK Andy
I'll have a chat with my daughter because she'll have the van mount, If she does need the van, I have the backpack and can bring drums of water with me and its 5 minutes to get home to refill also if you need to refill your welcome.

I also have a pressure washer and 25' lance if thats any use for your cladding? (needs a Tap though)

Thanks John I'll give it another Go
