Don't you use a pricing equation?

x times square foot plus equipment x profit percentage

we would charge 28 pence per square foot

it sounds like they have not got a clue and are asking for your quote to use as a yardstick

good luck

Never quote without viewing...that is our golden rule, having learnt the hard way. Go and view the office block You can't phone a  builder and say i want a house built and it measures 23,000 sq metres how much please???They would at least want to see the plans and view the area in question.

Why won't he let you see it? That should ring alarm bells straight away. He probably isn't happy with the cleaners they employ and wants to see if he is getting his monies worth out of them.

I did a quote yesterday where the company was new but already a in a state, the FM would not budge on 2 hours a day, it needed 4 minimum, the cleaner has no chance whether they are the best cleaner in the world or the worst. 2nd quote in two weeks that was a waste of time.

Just cheesed off I missed the Kaiser Chiefs who were on Radio 1 live at the time, something told me before I want in I would be better off listening to the radio rather do the quote.

Can't really help with the Kaiser Chiefs, but I would say - even on domestic or small office cleans it is essential that you know what you are getting into, and what is involved before quoting. If you quote without seeing you have three things that may happen:

1. You price too cheap and the job is bigger than anticipated, as a result you cannot do the work to a standard that is higher enough, the client then puts word about that you do not live up to your word. As word gets around you find it hard to get work - your business fails and you become stressed. Your wife runs off with the milkman as he is happy go lucky and gets loads of tips.

2. You price too cheap and do the job to your usual high standard, you are required to take on existing staff, who were unable to do the job within the time allowed. You employ additional staff and maybe require specilist equipment which you have not factored in. You lose money on the job, no more handbages for the wife - she runs off with ....... you end up in a bedsit, thinking of the good times and all you had...

3. You price too dear - you don't get the job,

For the sake of your wife and family, your sanity and all things that are good - see the job or DO NOT QUOTE !

Hope this helps.

Cherie
