NFMWC - CAN ANYONE GIVE AN UPDATE?
« on: February 21, 2005, 06:11:10 pm »
I'm not a member, so this isn't a moan, as by not being a member I do not have the right to complain (in this instance) about an organisation I am not a member of.

Anyway, someone in the Federation posted the following on the 16 September 2003 - that's about 17 months ago:

Quote from a board member of NFMWC member

Thank you for a warm welcome,a big hello to everyone,
on and off line! I dont know if you all know that I am on the
board of the National Federation of Master window cleaners, and I will answer any questions if I can!

I cant say to much yet,but there is a lot of pr work ie
radio TV, window cleaning is going big across the country end of september!the window cleaners of our country will be highlighted! when I get the go ahead you will be the first to know about it,this does concern you all!
I will keep you  all posted

regards to all fellow window cleaners!

End quote

Has there been any updates on this?

That was Terry.
No, I don't know what happened, it could have been the song he did about London car charges.
Then again I could be wrong.

Karlosdaze,

I didn't want to put a name down for who said it, just in case it resulted in flaming or narking someone (ie Terry), he's faster than me; just might be harder too!

I don't think Terry meant a song about Londons car charges (congestion charge?) would be 'big across the country and highlight window cleaners" anyway.

I thought it was more of a hint that the Federation were going to do some sort of national 'safe window cleaner' campaign.  I.E.  If you want a 'safe window cleaner', then choose one who's a member of the Federation.

If the Fed did run a campaign such as this, I would join them.  Otherwise, I can't see what the benifits are.

I have insurance.  I have references proving, probably with more certanty than the Federation's, that I have no criminal convictions (well apart from going AWOL from the Army and joining the French Foriegn Legion for the weekend and spending 28 days in MCTC for what was no more than a drunken escapade).

Maybe the originator of the post thought he could make a real difference, but ended up being smacked by reality.  It's one thing saying, or suggesting, what the Federation should do; but another actually doing it; faced by problems - probably financially restrictive - that we are unaware of.

I'd just like to know what they were planning to do and where it ended up!

Does the Federation post minutes of their meetings anywhere?  Are their members privy to the minutes?  Do they actually take minutes (I'm sure they must).

I haven't researched this at all, so any information is welcomed?

the only recomendation the fed can make is that member has 1 million of public liability as this is only requirement for membership.a safe window cleaner recomendation could not be made on this basis

I thought to join the Federation you had to sign a piece of paper declaring (something like) you have had no criminal convictions within five years!  Therefore, being a member of the Federation, you are presumed 'safe'.

Safe that is, as long as you were truthfull when signing up.
