Have been asked to put in a quote for builders clean of a new car showroom. Will have to get certificated for scissor lift etc to do the inside of windows, but i see that as an investment, got local wfp guy to do the outside. It will cost me £200 for the week to hire so can put this on the quote as hire of equipment? The site manager said he would expect 6 people for two days for the intial clean then the day before handover he wants 2 people for the day to do a sparkle clean. This is the first time we have gone down this road so any help and advice on cost etc would be very much appreciated. Thanks Paul

If that's what he wants then it's a pretty straight forward calculation.

Work out your cost at 14 man days plus materials and any additional costs you expect to incur, then add on your profit margin, he's done most of it for you.

When you put in your quote tell him what you are quoting for in the way of labour, if it then takes a third day to clean the building you have it covered in your quote.

Thanks lionheart, can i put on the quote hire charge for equipment or do they expect this to be built in, do they expect me to have a scissor lift in "stock"

They wont expect you to have a scissor lift! What they expect is that you know what you are doing, have all the correct qualifications and insurance and they would presume that you have done this work before lots of times.

Even multimillion companies hire equipment. So just add that in to your billing.

It's down to you how much detail you show on your quotation  or tender.

However what is the cost to get certified on the scissor lift? Cleaning is competitive and the more money you add on you may not get the job.

Thanks for your help. Going on course next week. For scissor and boom certificate will cos £210.00 and it is valid for 5 years, so worth the investment, another string to our bow.
