When I was trad I usually got quite a few tips, then when changing to WFP it dried up. Have the odd customer who still give us a tip.

Have any of you found since changing to WFP tips disappeared :(

i am not keen on accepting tips at all. It's just the way i am. Yesterday i had one woman insist i took £2 and she done this the previous time also.

people go to work everyday and do not get tipped so i don't expect to go to mines and be tipped.

I only had one customer who tipped me regularly (not counting xmas) but I lost her last month, after a year of wfp, cos she had finally had enough of the pole system! So that's probably a yes!

I don't know whether it'd been leaving spots and she hadn't let me know all this time, or whether it was because she just didnt like the wet (she was elderly).... she just came out and said she wasnt happy with it and would like to cancel. Because she had obviously already made up her mind and decided she would cancel instead of giving me a chance (and because I was having a bad day) I just said ok and that was it! hey ho.

D.A,

Don't you think it's more a case of 'familiarity breeds contempt'?

How many new customer's have you had that were over-the-moon to be able to find a good window cleaner, made a special effort to pay you, then as the months dragged on they weren't as quick to stick that cheque in the post?

Then at Christmas, when the customers you took on that year tip you; don't do the same the following Christmas; yet you've provided them with exactly the same service as the year prior.

They may eventually have said stuff like, 'Are we due already?  Haven't you just been?'

I reckon it's more a case of 'familiarity' more than anything to do with your WFP!

I personally always tip my bin men; since they're great; they take almost anything, but my postman is a grumpy-young-bloke; always has his headphones on... so he gets nowt!

It wasn't WFP that caused my tips to dwindle.  It was me changing to a "no collecting" system which put the onus on the customer to ensure they paid me.

Yes, thats how its been for me. I wouldnt expect a customer to slot a tip in when they send a cheque through the post, it just isnt going to happen.

Face to face door-step collecting quite possibly, but not now.

Totally agree wth Tosh, familiarity breeds contempt. Customers probably resent paying so much for such little time as we get faster with wfp. They're probably jealous 'cause they know we earn more than them ;D
