HOSE PROTECTION.....ON CONNECTOR
« on: September 18, 2008, 07:07:06 pm »
My female microbore end connector broke today on the end of my hose. I usually have a tennis ball, to protect the connector, but I want something a bit better, as the tennis ball sometimes pops off, leaving the connector unprotected. Any suggestions for something cheap, reliable available from a wc'ing supplier, diy or somewhere else? Luke

try gardinerpole systems they sell the protecta ball which are cheap and do what you are after

Good evening.

We also use Protecta-Ball from Gardiner Pole Systems. I do recommend.

I carry spares so I replaced the connector in a few mins. Ive tried the protecta balls, but there in effective for the microbore as there too small, there good on my pole hose though...keep the suggestions coming. I will check them redashe guys out nwh, i remember they were linked on here before. Luke

I saw one of those big protecta balls in one of my customers garden, like at least twice the size of the ones Gardiner sells, I haven't been able to find them yet!

The small one is just too small, the connector still hits the ground soo many times, maybe if you would have two, one on your minibore, and one of your polehose yes. But I plug it straight into the trigger, anyway, it happens as well when I lay the connector next to the hosereel when reeling in, but it still knocks the pavement now and then, very difficult.

hi ,2 golf balls drilled to fit are excellent one either side.one on the pole hose and one on the microbore then put on the appropriate fittings.hard wearing and cheap.

The size you need are T131 (the smallest one in the group photo), we are just in the process of setting up with a range of Redashe products. The only thing with these hose stops though are that they are more prone to catching on edges as they are not spherical.

I always bring the connector end back to the reel anyway, so it doesnt usually catch on stuff, but it still gtes knocked about, Luke

Yes, this size will fit both 6mm and 8mm.  We should be having a stock of them coming in the next few weeks.

True, I'm not sure these would work at all well I'm afraid.

Alex, any idea's where I can get a size bigger Protecta ball from?

Funnily enough, we have just come up with somewhere that will manufacture them for us in a larger size! (by just, I mean today).  We will hopefully be able to have these in stock soon.  I will make sure something's posted on a forum when they are in.

How much for 2 Alex?

Redashe's list price is £8.40 each.
