have neither of you used the old universal poles?  They are very good poles and last well, quite rigid too but they are heavy.

Pretty bog standard, lower end of the market pole, used them for years not great by any stretch of the imagination.

still use one bit of bugger when your nearly horizontal over a con
but alright when going straight up most would consider them heavy
but after years of lugging anchor chain around not a problem

If it is the old universal which it sounds like it is was too heavy, after a couple of hours you will need to call the ambulance to give you oxygen ;D ;D

Good solid poles but too heavy for me now that I use a light pole

Fine pole for chucking about, i don't understand why some use really pricey poles for lower level work.(under 20ft)

i've got a 25ft 5 section universal. Had it a couple of years and it is heavy. I just stopped using it each month but did all windows on a job with it rather than swap.
£95 is a cheap price though and it will last ages.
But having it as the main pole for certain jobs will soon get you down, unless you have never used a pole before.
If it's all you can afford then needs must. But if you've got the cash it is better to buy something that will allow you to fly through the work. It is too cumbersome to shave much time off compared to other poles.

i bought a 30ft universal about 2 years ago as a spare as it was cheap. it is still going strong but i nearly killed myself using it. even the amount of time using it was a lot slower than using a lighter pole. its a false economy really

seems to be a lot of 'girls' on this forum

45ft carbon universal with a steel gooseneck and 16" vikan brick-o-brush - that'll sort the men out from the boys.  still use it, sometimes.

the 60ft cobra weighs a lot less than my 45ft universal - 45ft uni weighs about 9kg if I remember right add on the weight of the gooseneck and brush
