The holiday couple
« on: September 17, 2008, 07:49:43 pm »
Ok guys ...just a quick one...I run 8 weekly rounds...have a couple who holiday alot...now they do pay regualr and on time and I do not have any issues with them at all or them I.

Now they have decided that when they holiday this coming October they do not want their clean as they will be away and will not get the benifit of it and want to skip another 8 weeks so it will be 16 weeks for their house 8 windows and a 6 panel conservatory and 6 large doors which I normally do for about 30 quid every 8 weeks......

What would you do....

ps this does boil me up !!!

Cheers
Dave.

I often get asked to skip a clean its not really a problem if they are good customers and the jobs well priced and you always get paid then to be honest you should look after them as good customers are what you need
Dont cut your nose off to spite your face (dont know what that means i heard someone else say it and thought i would use it)  ;D

you can understand there point of view i just miss them and do them the time after at same price

i agree with this they just trying to save a few quid it will not take that much longer to do them when you do go back you might as well stay on the wright side of them

I agree too.

They're quite within their rights not to want it if they're away.
What's the point?

It may take 5 minutes longer, but maybe not.
Comes with the job I'm afraid.

I have always charged more if the time scale is changed,But at the moment with the way the market is i have put this on hold because i know that some poeple are feeling the crunch. And like it has been said it does'nt take much longer to clean.

just skip them this time and carry on as normall

the time and motion of WFP between 8 weeks and 16 weeks is just the same

it sounds pretty good for 30 mate, id keep it and just give it a good scrub next time, perhaps if it was a cheap job to start with id go for more, maybe if you find it really takes ages then possibly you could ask for a bit more, but id probably just do it :)

Charge them an additional 25% and tell them it's your retaining fee otherwise they'll be replaced with another customer whose more regular.

Dave.

If they are usually good customers, they don't suspends service too often and they give reasonable notice of temporary suspension, then I wouldn't have a problem with it.  However, if I had a full workload, their price would go up faster than the others.  I wouldn't present it as paying extra whenever they suspended.  I would just make it a general increase per clean - and I wouldn't tack it onto a conversation about "not next time".
I don't know how others view this but I don't regard 16 weekly as "first clean territory" but I do regard 6 monthly as such (the point by which I would feel obliged to go over the job twice).

Treat them as a new customer if you start up again give them a new price and charge double for the first clean.

Cheers for your advice and comments...you know what it's like sometimes it all gets a bit much and things can get 'confused'...(me that is).

I don't see a problem, loads of customers say "we will be away next time you are due so miss us out"

Just part of the reality of window cleaning.

i would just do a little less and get them on the rebound. gutter clean (thinks they owe me £30 so add it on the bill) price rise £30 divided by 12 = £2.50 more on the next rise. theres more than one way to skin a cat

cant see the problem if given enough notice and are regular paying customers.
people take holidays don see  the point of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
i dont have customers dumping me or asking for half price cleans because ive
taken a holiday and may be a week or two late. give a little take a little as the
saying goes
