Pricing Cleaning
« on: September 15, 2008, 05:47:22 pm »
Hi

Im just starting out with my Domestic and office cleaning business.

I would like some advice on pricing my domestic cleaning jobs.
I have looked at what other people have advised and im still a little stuck.

I have noticed a lot of people say its better to charge per job then to charge per hour.

How would I do that for lets say 2 hours per week?

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi Jana as suggested in some of those post you may have read you may want to carry out a market test with other companies as to what they are charging, particularly in your area.  Prices vary in different parts of the UK and therefore cannot be applied globally.  What you will find is lower and upper rates to work with but don't be misguided by this.  Other factors will determine what rate you will charge.  Questions that you need to consider will included whether you are doing the work or do you have staff? Costs for overheads, equipment, insurances etc.,  it goes on.  Let us know how you get on.

Whilst I take into consideration that we are operating in two different markets albeit akin services I am careful not to misguide you.  Whilst we may have an approximate base rate of between £12-£18 per hour this does vary upon services offered and can be higher.  However these prices may be achieved in say Kent but not in Surrey.  Indeed Surrey may exceed this.  Different factors will help you shape your prices and over time you can achieve economies of scale and will find that you may operate different prices in reference to your services offered.

I hope this helps.

If it helps we are based in London and Outlying counties but only clean communal areas of residential sites and our prices range from £15 to £22.50 an hour with a minimum call out of £52.50 (even if a smaller block takes only 1.5 hours to clean).

The £22.50 figure only works for inside congestion charge area, £17.50 up for other central London areas
