Hi All,

Just wondering who you use for your insurance, I got a quote on a new van which is over double my old one.

it seems as soon as I say I have a water tank fitted it goes sky high  .

That's why we use 10ton ratchet straps hooked into 60mmx6mm angle steel bolted down through the chassis.

You can truthfully tell the insurance company that the tank is removeable, then it's just cargo, not a modification

Ian I tried saying that, and the reply was, if the tank affects the van then it is classed as a modification, and unless you mention this I could well invalidate your policy.
I just got a call from A plan and they would not insure van :

Why not call Ionics.....I am sure they will have a solution....

I told my insurance company, all they wanted to know was that the tank would be professionally fitted, I guess that doesn't include ratchet straps.

Apparantly ionics are the only company whose systems are compliant/certificated by the necesary legislation so unless you have a ionics fitted system the insurance company will quote sky high, because of the obvious dangers, only way round it is a trailer!

I'm with A Plan, I have  got a Pure Freedom, fitted  by them, 500 litre system. A Plan have just sent me the renewel quote for next 12 mionths. £343 ish on an Expert 2005 reg.

Do they know about the water tank fitted ?
I asked the same as its a modification, and also that bt have installed a secure box and they could not get any to quote  : I was a little shocked to be honest as I thought they covered window cleaners

I was reading an article the other day all about it, and if its a self fitted system ian you will struggle for insurance pal They wanna see it upto a qualification that only ionics have at present, (dont get me wrong i dont like ionics) its an american standard because we dont have one...

A-Plan with system fitted £340,van must be secured for claim on poles etc.

Yes I have the same tel no but I dealt with "Bruce" at A Plan. He said all WFP gear was included up to a certain amount. Can't remember how much but was more than enough for me.

A Plan said they would not insure it? Find that very strange. Is it the van itself they wont insure? What van is it?

I rang up A Plan today. They said that I am insured with "Equity Red Star" and on my policy it is noted that I have a bolted down WFP system.  They said it is a modifiication but Equity are happy with it as they specifically have this policy for WFP window cleaners.
