Did your public liability go down switching from trad to WFP
« on: September 11, 2008, 11:09:19 am »
Hi, Ive got p/liability for roofing, gardening and w/cleaning.
The w/cleaning bit is what really bumps my premiums up >:(
When you guys switched from trad to wfp did your premiums alter in anyway or did the
slippery buggers point out that you might still use ladders at some point?

I dont understand! I would of thought roofing would be the cause of higher premiums (more to go wrong!). How much are you  paying for the window cleaning and who is it with? And to answer your question, With some companies if a certain percentage of your work is wfp then they will offer a discount on their premium. The one I am with don't but it is still less than it is through one that does! I've got £5 million public liability insurance and it costs me £106.84. Thats not a lot £2.05 a week. Thats not a lot! You have to shop around just like motor insurance.

insurance companies take the view that window cleaners (in my case Trad) move ladders more in the space of a job etc whilst a job which entails roofing, the ladders are fixed in one position and secured to the roofladder.
This is certainly true cos Ive had more near misses W/C than roofing :o
