sub pump (again)
« on: September 08, 2008, 11:00:38 pm »
jesus its driving me up the wall >:( >:( >:(
there is no set pattern to it either
sometimes i just uncoil the transfer hose, switch on and it pumps 500 ltrs in less time than it takes to make a cuppa
other times its half that speed ::) annoying but still much less aggro than barrels
the real pain in the ass tho is when you switch it on,watch the transfer hose jump, hear the water strt to splash in the tank, and come back 10 min later to find that nothing has happened
water has stopped flowing
pump is still running tho ???
remove outlet pipe and it churns the water in the static up a treat
put pipe back on.......nothing
switch on next morning.....good as gold ??? ??? ::)
any ideas

take the bottom off your pump, youll see the fan thing, you need to spin it round with your hand, sometimes its gets stuck or goes slow, just needs a bit of freeing up

i do mine like once a month or so

i dont think thats the problem
when its running but not pumping water out the pipe,i can remove pipe and it churns the water fine
connect pipe again......nothing
pump is running but not pumping ???
pump is only 2 mnths old

throw it in the bin and get one of these

www.toolstation.com/messages.html?code=89645&mainWin=1

works a treat for me, bar the having to turn the wheel occasionally

think i may have sussed it ;D
it sayys in the manual about the venting hole to allow air out of pump
on close inspection this hole is partially blocked by plastic tag which looks like remnants of the manufacturing process, like the hole was not drilled out right or the moulding did not form right
if this vent is blocked then maybeit is getting airlocked if it is lifted out of water then put back in
if its left in tank overnight it works fine, maybe because air has had time to escape
does that sound plausible ???
tomorrow i will take it apart and enlarge/clear the vent and see if that works
you need your barre.............. ;D ;D ;D
:P :P balls :-*
