Ian very nice program if i decide to purchase it how long is it going to take me to transfer 300+ jobs and their outstanding debts onto your program from george? and when will the utility be available to do this my self. Also at the moment i would only consider changing programs at the start of a new financial year due to the complication of preparing a tax return from two seperate programs have you any thing in place that might make me change my mind.

Hi Philip,

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have written a utility that is in Beta testing with a few forum users as we speak. It would not take long to import 300+ jobs with the help of the utility. The testers have raised a few points that I would like to fix before an official release which I am hoping in the next couple of days. This will then allow you to do the import yourself.

I am not sure I can convince you to migrate to WCP as I am not an accountant and would not know how easy/hard it would be to produce the records from two systems. I would assume that as long as you have income and expenditure then this would enable you to do that?

What other info would you need as George does not export a users job history so I am unable to import it.

Hope that answers your questions and please feel free to give me a ring if you want to discuss.

Thanks

Ian

for you of those waiting for this george export please try and understand just how difficult it must be for ian to do, i know a bit about computers but coding is beyond me so ill explain it to you like this

imagine someone building an engine, someone asking you to take the components out and rebuilding them into a different engine

solid? this must be what ian is going through

bear with him, itl come but at end of day hes gotta un real a code that he didnt write and put it into a different code

Hi Ian

How do you print a statement of account for a custmer? I see you can print job history. But this seems to give you date of future cleans etc.

Roy

Hi Roy,

This is one of the last things that I was going to before going live - a statement of account for a customer across all their jobs.

I will try and get this done asap. Should a statement for a customer not include transactions like Tips, Futrue Dates, Missed Cleans, Cleans and Payments?

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian

Thanks for the Reply, for me a  statment would include date cleaned and amount charged also date of payment and amount recieved.

With the option of entering start and end date for the statemment period or all amounts owed at the date of rasing the statement.

Thanks Roy

Sure, with you PDA connected to the PC open WCP and go to Tools->Handheld Devices. Click the button 'Install WcpLite 1.1'

This will then install the software on your PDA. Once the software is installed, you can find it on the PDA under Start -> Programs.

If you get any warning messages about requiring the Microsoft .NET framework then simply go back to WCP and click Tools->Handheld devices and click 'Install .NET Framework'

You only need to connect the PC with the cable to install, once its installed you can use WiFi to communicate with each other.
(Let me know if you dont intend using WiFi and would prefer to use cabled)

Once you are able to open WcpLite on the PDA you will noticed an input box at the bottom called Host: 127.0.0.0.1 - you will need to fill this in with the IP address of WCP on the main PC. This can be found either on the screen under Tool->Handheld Devices or in the status bar in the bottom left hand corner.

Enter this number in the Host box on the PDA and click Connect. You should noticed in the status bar that the Connected Devices chagnes to 1 and the status on the PDA changes to Connected. This may take a minute when you first connect as it has to authenticate itself.

Let me know how you get on

Ian

The minimum requirement to run WcpLite is Windows Mobile 5.0 and above. The reason is that the software needs the microsoft .NET framework to run and this will only work on 5.0 or higher.

You only option is to purchase a newer PDA. I think someone post earlier that they found a few on ebay for about £50 or you can buy brand new for about £150. Le t me know if you want some advice on a purchase.

Thanks

You only option for £100 is to try and get one from eBay. Obviously I have no control over quality etc...I have 2 PDA's that I used for testing. One older one with window mobile 5.0 called a HP Ipaq RX1955 (or any 1950 series). You can get these from ebay for around £50.

If you want to spend a little more you can go for brand new one with warrenty etc, I have a HP Ipqa 114 Classic which I purchased from ebuyer for £150.

If you are going to have a look on ebay you need to make sure that it has Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.0 and I would highly recommend that it has WiFi (makes like sooo much easier).

Hope that helps

Ian

Not a problem, if you want me to take a look at one, let me know (probably best to email me so that others dont start out bidding you on the same item :-))
