These are the headings i would like pre installed on the accounts/expenses package;
Motoring; Road Tax, Van Insurance, Van repairs, Diesel.
And then I would like:
Equipment, Advertising, Phone,Office, Consumables,Workwear, Miscelaenous.
So Motoring has four headings of it's own, and the rest of our business is covered entirely by seven headings.
That's the profit and loss account sorted.
Now this is probably overkill, but in a perfect world we should be able to account for our cash.The tax man is very keen on this too.What he wants to see is how much cash you have at the end of the week, a cash in hand figure is produced by adding the money you have taken in to last weeks cash in hand and taking away any money you have spent.This should be checked against the cash you actually have to see if it tallies.This figure is then carried forward to the following week.
Out of cash in hand can be taken wages (drawings).And of course anything you pay for by cheque does not affect this figure.
I know you will be familiar with much of this Ian, granny sucking eggs and all that, and this may be a bit ambitous at the moment but it is the sort of booted and suited solution that I and many others would pay a premium for. I see that one programme called sage is actually accepted by hmrc and I believe this is because you cannot go back into it and change entries. (i've seen internet adds to do just that
) Anyway my point is that I wouldn't be at all surprised if they would be prepared to help you achieve something that is acceptable to them. (I'm not talking a complete accounts package).
I can see you've got enought on your plate at the moment, but maybe this could be something for the future.Oh, and thanks Luke but how did you know I was going to say this?
