(I know this is not what you were asking But I would go for at least a 500l tank, preferably a 650 for future expansion, when doing commercial you'll empty the 400 too quickly.)

i know that ian (window washers) has his tank in the middle as of the van, like not across the van, pointing forward so has room either side

although this will annoy ya, you shoulda gone bigger fella but with that much space theres no reason why you couldnt carry a few 25 litre barrels ;)

You should be able to fit it centrally.

We did a Vivaro (53 plate) yesterday.

We fitted a 650 which is the same width as a 400 and it fitted without overhanging the step. You will have to drop the fuel tank to fit it securely. We used 20 x M12 bolts evenly spaced around the bottom of the frame mostly picking up on chassis and cross members.

andrew what length bolts are required? I'd imagine you would need to cut them down to size as the fule tank may foul them when put back on.

I don't do the fitting of the frame to floor myself. I leave that to the pro's so to be honest I don't know. Find a local stockist of bolts etc. They usually keep all sorts of lengths in stock. Drop the tank and measure the lengths you need of each bolt then pop round and get what you need.

Sorry I can't help anymore.

spoke with a friend who is a technical teacher and fabricates stuff etc. He said best bet is to  get U style bolts which will wrap around the chassis. He was telling me that by drilling the chassis even though the inserts are in the chassis with the bolt there will be considerable strain on it as the vehicle moves.

he said if you can avoid drilling the chassis

Couldn't agree more. Keeping the integrity of the chassis is of great importance. You can get high tensile U bolts, but they are not cheap in the size needed!

my mate reckons this is what i should be going for. He reckons 2 of these on each main chassis rail and the rest to be done by spreader plates, nuts and bolts.

I'm pretty sure Ionic's fit their spreader plates through the chassis, and they've got the thingamajig certification. So I really wouldn't worry too much about it.

U bolts cost £42 with postage included in price to scotland. This should be a good wayu of fitting this into van i reckon

dont look who's to blame, look how to fix it. anon
