Pure Freedom & Air lock probs
« on: July 26, 2008, 04:36:12 pm »
I've noticed on a related Trolley (Andrew m's / Omnipole) topic mention of airlock probs with the Pure freedom trolley.

I have to say I've not really found this to be a problem even when I've let it run dry. After putting on a fresh barrel and popping the hose in I just disconnect the pole hose from the trolley in order to release the back pressure on the pump, pop in a male to male hozelock type adapter to release the waterstop valve and turn the controller to full power. 5-10 seconds and it's primed and ready to re-connect the pole hose again. If you've got a tap instead of a water stop connector on the trolley then all you have to do is open the tap and turn the controller to full power after disconnecting the pole hose.

I don't use a tap as I've not yet found one that doesn't leak when under pressure.

Just thought this info might help someone having probs with airlocks on their Purefreedom.

Andy's new trolley looks the biz and a real good price too, though I doubt if I'd get in in the back of my motor with six barrels of water.

Hi, I have a van system and the trolley, there is no problem with air locks. I recon its just sales BS. Remember A McCann was the sales man at Pure Freedom before. Now he buys someone else's trolley and says its his design. More BS!

You are one very misinformed individual mate!!

A bit of a history lesson for you. Look and learn..eyes open?

If anyone should know all about the Freedom trolley it's me...know why?

Because I ..yes I had the very first one designed and built for my own window cleaning business.. I used it daily for long enough to know what the issues are and for your info I spent a whole lot of time on the phone explaining to customers how to get rid of airlocks and how to prevent them.

With any trolley that uses the suction hose into a 25 litre container if you let it run dry you WILL get airlocks. Most have around 1.5 to 2 metres of hose that if emptied get full of air which is on the SUCTION side of the pump which is difficult to get rid of sometimes or just a pain in the neck. The trick is not to let it run dry and leave a bit of water in the container. This isn't exclusive to the Freedom trolley which by the way I still think is a good piece of kit.

I am not into BS mate. My customers will tell you that.

Talking about BS let us have a little look.

Hi,this. is the first time i added to issues, I have read lots info and learnt a lot.
I am newish to wfp and have had 650 lt system purefreedom fitted two weeks ago after a lot of looking and pricing up.
I found the guys there brillant!!!! they know ther stuff, very helpful, no pressure to buy, they let you look at all the equipment and go away with a price that they honour when you go back and order. I had my garage owner mate check over the tank mounting fixings and he said they were over enginered.
Well pleased and it works perfect!!
Hope this helps.
Mart.

And then a little later

Hi, Andrew McCann states you cant fit a 350lt upright tank in a kangoo, he's talking rubbish. Ive got one and if its fitted right there's plenty of room for all your gear. Got mine from PureFreedom.
Mart

Funny how a 650 suddenly turned into a 350  ::)

I along with many many members on here, I have never come across Andrew giving out BS, the thing you have to remember guy's, if someone gives BS they always get caught out and Andrews has been in the business far to long, I for one have had nothing but good honest advice from him and I have seen many many posts thanking him for his honest advice.

I smell a rat.

I will add to my earlier post a note that aside from the advice I got from a good friend who switched over to WFP a year and a half back the only other one-to-one advice I've had that was invaluable was from Andrew.

My purpose in posting this thread was to share info I found useful in connection with the 'airlock problem.'

I'll also add that I've learned a lot from this forum dispite the fact that I've cleaned windows for thirty years plus before ever learning of it.

easycleaner has obviously never used the freedom trolley if he hasn't experienced air locks.
But they are simple and quick enough to get rid off, just by sucking the end of the pipe that connects onto the pole hose.
Some people seem think other people are stupid and haven't got the savvy to realise that people who do have the experience of something, can smell a rat when when someone comes out with a comment like airlocks are not a problem with a trolley.
Bless.  :-*

the thing with the airlock is amazing, now i dont know the layout of the freedom, but its in effect a sack truck with the barrels on

ref the air lock

its easy to fix, have the "in hose" going up away from the pump and in a arch  down to the barrel, this stops airlocks, i havent had a airlock in about 18 months

before i turned my diy trolley into a vanmount i used a fmale hozelock connector with a  check valve on inlet. solved airlock problem overnight  ;D
just turn off hose tap as flow falters
go back and turn off pump
change barrel with inlet hose pointing down
turn pump back on
job done
i cant say this is fool proof cos others have tried this and it did not work :(
for my trolley it worked fine

van mount is much quicker and less hassle tho
and cost very little for the ease of use and speed benefits
