O.A.P Bungalow Prices
« on: July 26, 2008, 10:33:27 am »
Does anyone clean council OAP bungalow windows and what price do you charge?
The ones I have been asked to clean are just 4 or 5 windows and a couple of small panes in the front and back doors.

Thanks,
Chris.

Minimum price of £13-£14 for everything, even if it's one window.

£3.50-£4.00 would earn you £25+ p/hr on a good run of them.

True, I see where you are coming from, at the other hand shouldn't we be looking for better paid work? Yes, I do have one or two of them, and I feel for them as well, but then again, I'd rather focus on bigger work. Mixed bag really.  :)

This is perhaps the biggest issue with my business right now.  You don't want to be rude, but it so damn tough to get away sometimes.  Its easy to lose 10 or 15 quid a day having a quick chat.

The other issue I have is a few O.A.P.s throw tea and cake at me the minute I knock on the door and I don't have the heart to ask for that price rise!

Council oap bungalows are great. £2.50 for 4 windows round my way. I can rattle one off in under 5mins and thats including passing time of day with the custy. Whats the difference between doing 2  houses that pay £15 in an hour or 12 £2,50 bungalows. £30 is £30. I bet my oaps tip better than the £15 houses at xmas.

£5. And I ALWAYS ask, "How are you?" and I listen and remember what they say.

That, to me, is worth more than money and the look on their faces when you ask about their trip to Gloucester is just priceless.

If it's council oap bungalows (4 windows and the door) I'm charging £4.50 a place, and they take no time at all, if you are friendly you'll end up with all the neighbors as well.  It's tough to stick to a high minimum price on this type of work, as the customer knows exactly how long you've been.

Other bungalows go for normal prices, as soon as you need a point if done traditionally it's a hassle.

Simon.

At the moment we charge £2 for 4 window bungalows that get done on a fortnightly basis. All done on a saturday morning at the same time. Pensioners like routine and the money is always there, no collecting at all. Can make £100 on a saturday morning quite easy. Thing is, we've had this round for a couple of years now and want to increase the price from £2 to £2.50. I'm wanting to leaflet these bungalows in advance to let them know and would appreciate any help with some sort of letter of explanation.

Cheers ;)

nice to know you all rip off little old ladies on about £80 a week
i dont do any domestic anymore but my last domestic round i had i did a small village there was about 9 bungalows there all had 7 windows i used to charge 50p an house because they where pensioners this was about five years ago, they all realized i was doing them for next to nothing and really apreciated it in fact i got a lot of other jobs in village because of it, one day one of them insisted i put up my prices and wouldnt take no for an answer so i raised them 10p to 60p an house they where all fine about the rise except one who went into a frenzy saying that is a twenty per cent increase and inflation is only 5% needless to say i refused to do her windows again .
just goes to show some people rip off old ladies and some old ladies will try and rip you off  there is good and bad no matter what age .

I would love to see anyone do 12 bungalows in an hour on my round.  It takes as long for me to collect as it does for me to clean.  I make sure not to encourage them, but they just feel the need to talk at me.  Not a conversation by any means.  I have had to drop a fair few customers because of this, which is crazy.

I charge around 80p a window for bungalows, but have a 5 pounds minimum charge.
