Hes back so i wont be needing you......
« on: July 26, 2008, 08:48:03 am »
2 months ago i canvassed a area and picked up this house, the little old lady said ive got a window cleaner but not seen him for about 5 months and they really need doing, so to be fair to the other window cleaner i booked her in for 4 weeks later, (6 months since hes been) went there done them she was really pleased with them and said they look brill and was chuffed i done the frames etc and recommended me to neighbours and i got both them too,  done them again last week (7 months since he been) still pleased and loved the great technology these days (her words) any way get call from custy yesterday that her window cleaner had just turned up and she explained to him what had happened but didnt have the heart to say he wasnt needed as he old boy looked upset so i got the boot lol, lets see how many months till he turns up again.

Had this on a commercial job. The old window cleaner went back and cried and offered to do it 40%  cheaper than he was charging before

last week i lost a nice house in a very nice , exclusive , gated , private estate :-
she said
' can i cancel you now , as the gardener has got a ladder now , and its only FAIR that i let him do them'

What do you mean other peoples patches...there is no such thing. Each road, each house is not the patch of any window cleaner....what rubbish.

the my patch used to work well in that all rounds always used to end up being very compact and windowcleaners in the area all knew one another so if they was asked to clean someones windows and it was not in their area then they would pass it on to the person that did that area and vice versa now you see window cleaners working on the same streets and cleaning just one or two houses each why they cant talk to one another and swap a couple of jobs to suit them both is beyond me.
on the other hand this get of my patch is just total rubish because it is ultimately upto the customer who they have clean their windows and if they feel they can get it done better or cheaper then it is their decission so instead of windowcleaners getting all teritorial surely it is better to work together to make all our rounds more compact .
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

I know most of the guys my way, work on a lot of streets with them, even went with one to do a fascia, soffits and gutter job the other day, think its good to work in the same areas as it stops you slacking, if its just you youll turn up when you want and not take as much care.

this is what happens when you canvass other peoples patches ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
The last road I lived on had 30 houses and 5 window cleaners worked on it. Which of them exactly owns that patch? I'm up north too by the way.

Is this why window cleaners have a p in the bushes at the end of the street: to mark out their territory?
Sorry.  Just a touch of sarcasm.
