i have just been to price a house clean. Domestic, interior.

Its a one off EOT clean.

3 stories detatched, 5 beds, 4 bathrooms, big kitchen, utility, large living room, dining room.
cleaning all skirtings, two ovens, inside all kitchen units, and a general clean throughout.

I told him the price and he said it was far more than he thought, so said it would be a no.

Just incase i over priced, how much would you guys charge for that?

I'd expect the cleaning to take a team of 2 cleaners around 8 hours ( 1- hours of cleaning ) & therefore quote £192 + VAT, based on £12/hour X 16 hours.

is that including cleaning the ovens, cleaning inside all cupboards and wardrobes, cleaning marks off walls that are in visable places, etc?
As its a EOT everything need to be done. All these bedrooms are doubles too. Thats cleaning under the beds, under tables, chairs, settees, etc

The other day quoted £120 plus small amount for conumables (£10) in a EOT 4 bed 2.5 bath house.
She thought it was a bit dear. Then added "its not too bad".
I thought "why dont you clean it yourself then"
Dont know what she is doing now!

so 8 hours a day per cleaner =>   8x4 = 32

so 32 hours @ £12 per hour = £384    ....  but with no VAT on it.


looks like i over priced it then.
I think this guy was a pilot, so not short on money mind.

£12 per hour is reasonable, we did a 3 bed house last week and charged £10 per hour for 5 hours plus £105 for carpet clean. Sometimes they think that cleaners work for peanuts, we still have rent/mortgage and family to support

i done a similar house two months ago, 5 beds, 3 baths, 3 living rooms large kitchen and conservetory over 3 storeys. quoted £288 plus vat client very happy, took 12 hours for 2 cleaners total 24hrs, that was without carpet cleaning.

i think the hourly rate is ok, but i missjudged how long it would take.

i think it should have been more like a day and a half for 2 cleaners

I don't think you were that far out. I would have quoted round about £300, excluding the ovens, which we don't normally do.

If he's too tight to pay, let him find someone else to do it.

£375.00 no vat including ovens......then £15.00 per carpet if they want them doing......then outside windows £30.00 but not the conservatory BUT & its a BIG but with out seeing the place i could not quote  so dont think you are far wrong richy

I do (on my own) all carpets, oven , walls, fridge, windows etc etc...everything for an average of £21.00 per hour.

I think your estimate of the time is about what I would say without seeing it - 30ish hours including oven cleaning and all interior windows.

We charge £15 per hour but discount by 10% for 10 hour plus cleans to £13.50 per hour, however wages here can be up to £8 per hour so anything less wouldn't be worth the hassle involved in the domestic market.

This week we've completed a 5 bed, 2 bath house, with 4 living rooms, large kitchen and utility for £300 inc interior windows, but not inside ovens or cupboards.

When quoting for a one off clean I generally say 2 hrs for each kitchen and bathroom and 1 hour for each bedroom and living room depending on clutter, current state, etc, but add on extra time for windows.

I'm still learning though so will watch other posters on this topic with interest!
