george probs
« on: July 23, 2008, 07:06:20 pm »
Hi all.  Just got a new pc and I am trying and failing to get george from my old pc to my new one.  Looked at the george website and it says to email the back up file to the new pc and open it after I have downloaded the data restore programme.    Tried and nothing is happening.  Pulling my hair out at the moment.  Maybe this is why I am a window cleaner and not a computer technician! ;D

Anyone know how I can do it?  My disc drive is dead in my old pc so I cant save to disc or anything simple like that.  I bought a data transfer cable but cant install the software that came with it due to the disc drive being dead.

Thanks for any replies to this post.    ( I am getting tempted to raid the fridge of all the bottles of ice cold beer and saying balls to the pc)
Veni, vidi, vino, splatus.

 (I came, I saw, I drank, I fell over...)

raid the fridge anyway,

have to added the old hard drive to your new pc ? I have dont this so many times I have lost count, I only have three pc's now and a laptop (cutting back  ;D).
you may find that your old pc is dead but hard drive is fine, I cam back to smoke filled office and I still have the hard-drive from that pc and it was smoking big time (board messed up and croos wired itself)

when you go to george on your old comp and make a change it asks you if you wish to save to a removable disk, select yes and save it to desktop of pc, then email this to yourself and on new pc open your email and save the item you sent to yourself to your desktop, go to george website and select go to "downloads and select Data Restore Utility, go to your desktop and highlite the item you just saved and it should restore your jobs as i did the same last week.
