Oven cleaner on glass
« on: July 22, 2008, 09:18:36 pm »
I did one of my fish 'n chip/kebab  shops today,  and was told that the owner accidentally sprayed oven cleaner on the inside windows. I couldn't remove the stains despite scrubbing. The stains are like long run marks about 6 foot long, and are all over the 3 interior windows. Any ideas as to how to get this off?

The oven cleaner was a spray can type and it honestly looks like it was sprayed on deliberately.

When I said I couldnt remove the stains the owner said he would try to remove it by spraying more oven cleaner on the glass, which he did and then used my scrim to rub it you should have seen the mess it made.
The scrims only good for bin now.

the glass has been burnt but it can be removed with a product called crystal clear glass renovator , it is a bit pricey but works i think window cleaning warehouse supply it but not sure.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt

in a fish and chips shop the fat is in the air, have a go with sugar soap and a white scouring pad  ;)

Thanks  I will tell him what to buy to get it off as i cant see him paying 4 any cleaning agent that I could buy to do the job.
Re the fat is in the air comment  I find this interesting I really struggle to get the insides clean , the owners happy but i'm not,and I  thought that this was because of the very hot temperature in there { the kebab spits are on the go all the time and are near the windows} and the glass looks slightly smeary to me even if I work really quickly when squeeging and clothing.
My applicator is allways black and so is the scrim. I hate doing it to be honest as I have to clean the applicator of all the grease.

Can such places be cleaned to a high standard?
Dont have this prob with the other fish'n chip shops I do.

I hope you have a spare applicator fopr these jobs only, if you dont get a new one and use olf for this type of work, my guy did this a few weeks ago and then done domestics with same one, I spot chercked his work and when mad as there was grease all over domestics I explained it and will/better not happen again.
