hi all
just had a letter through my door today from a company i gave a price too for cleaning of hallways about 1 year ago.they want me do some carpet cleaning for them now they are a large property management company in london and i mean large.
they run this contract i quoted on which added up to 22k a year which would mean cleaning the hallways at 200 flats.
when i went round today i was so glad i did not get it as on the notice board there was a notice to all reidents asking for there monthly maitenance funds as 40% of residents were in arrearsby 4 months and 20% by 2 months which has led to contarcters not been paid as there is no more money in the kitty to cover and debt collectors have been called in.
the contractors havent been paid in 4 months and they need the money to pay them.
thank goodness i didnt get this job ..i would be screwed really.
now dont get me wrong i am not saying commercial work is rubbish , but dont be like me and make the mistake of not concentrating on domestic and even dropping some really good domestic work earning extremely good hourly rates while focusing on commercial only to be dropped like \ ton of bricks when times get tough. or when they want to save a few bob!
a good mix of work is always key commercial / residential / and maybe some other odd bits and pieces. for variation.
