thought I was on to a winner
« on: July 15, 2008, 06:19:40 pm »
just been checking my RO after a  flush water out of it was 000 tds (happy days)
so turn tap to normal to fill and still 000  :o tested waste and was 700+ so tds meter working.

after 5 mins of testing the water I started to smile thinking this is going to save me loads of resin, then realised I had connected my testing pipes to the di after ro  (not so happy days)

Has anyone else done something stupid like that ? if so add your story.

When i connected my DI back up once after changing resin i done it round the wrong way,i couldn`t for the life of me work out why my water wouldn`t get down to 000.Saying that it`s an easy mistake to make if your not paying attention when putting things back together.

I took my RO apart to put a new DI canister on it after breaking the old one.
Any way put it back together, switched on and tested water to 000, went out left it running all night filling the tank in my van. Next morning I checked the TDS (don't usually do this) only to find it running near 500, checked the water in the tank, near 500 too.
Turns out I had put the waste pipe into the DI, was polishing the water down to 000 initially, but soon knackered the resin, had 1000ltrs of useless water and a day off.

Been using my ro unit for nearly 2 months now, producing around 100 litres a week. Water still reads 000. I was wondering if i need to do any flushing or any other maintenance jobs to keep it running.

I once fitted a hose connector fitting to a pipe instead of a stop connector.  Result - several hundred litres of water siphoned onto the road overnight.  Glad it wasn't a freeze up.

yeah I changed prefilters etc and thought, 'well I might as well flush the ro - so I connected the booster pump up to the IBC tanks with a length of 0.5inch hose and flushed about 100ltrs or so of pure water through the RO.  I then ran the ro for 5 mins and was astounded by the readings - 000ppm from the ro, normally about 007ppm.  I thought I was a real smartie until I realised that I had forgot to reconnect the inlet from the prefilters and was in fact simply running pure water through the RO from the IBC tanks!!

I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!
