Commercial wfp work, what is it worth?
« on: July 14, 2008, 07:03:01 pm »
Hi all,

I am thinking of selling a bit of commercial work and would like to know what price it is worth, as I have never sold any before.

The job consists of 5 nursing homes all for the same company and 1 office. I do the work on a monthly basis; all in one day with wfp and the total is £360.
I live in North London, the work is in Herts/Beds and I cover about 70 miles round trip. I set off at 7.45am and am back home by 4.30pm and work on my own.

As you can work out, this is prime work, I have done it for over 2 years and the company pay within 2 weeks by cheque.

The only reason I might consider selling is that I have more work nearer home now.

Please let me know what you think it is worth.

Many thanks for any help.

Nigel

The homes could be whipped around no problem with 2, one at each side, but then you would be traveling in the van between jobs for at least 1.5 - 2 hours.

So you could maybe do it a couple of hours quicker.

Hope this helps a little.

5 nursing homes for £360,the question is is it worth having let alone paying for it.

5 eggs in one basket isnt worth 1/10 of five baskets with 5 eggs in each.

I tell you what people go on about commercial work being best, what tripe that is.There`s so many after certain jobs there cutting each others throats, and they all end up doing it at cost with no profit.

its only tripe if you get involved in under cutting and tendering cheap!! stick your price in if you get it you get it, if you don't you don't ;) some of the commercial work i've got could never be compared to domestic....thats not me trying to blow me own trumpet cause i ain't, just stating a fact :)

I`m not saying your wrong but on the whole it`s happening, lose a big commercial job it hurts big time lose a domestic good or bad and it can be replaced in some cases by lunchtime.I think you can get sucked into all this commercial is best hype,it`s far better to have a 50/50 split if you ask me on both types of work.I`d be worried especially at the moment if all my work was commercial, they think nothing at all in dumping you it`s just business at the end of the day,i know guy`s that have just had letters saying basically from now on your going to be the best part of 10k worse off this year from losing commercial.

i must say that i haven't been affected yet with any commercial contract (i don't want to temp fate though ;)) but we have a good mix of commercial and domestic. i was only replying really to the fact of some com be heavily more priced than dom work :D
