Yes, you can. But there are TWO things that you need to do:

1 - protect it from frost

2 - protect it from direct sunlight.

1 - protect it from frost. Simple - run it when it's frosty. The temp of the mains water is always well above freezing, so it warms up the unit and prevents freezing.

2 - make a wooden or fabric cover to shield it completely from the sunlight or you'll get green algae growing in it. I speak from experience!

In summer yes aslong as it doesnt get nicked. In winter no as it will destroy it.

mine is outside and yes the green algae does form on the inside but i wash the ibc out once a year and this solves the problem , last winter i did have a di canister shatter because of the freezing weather but i covered the whole thing with a tarpaulin and it was ok after that , so in answer to your question of course you can keep it outside if like me you have no alternative but be aware of the potential problems regards alan

in the winter it will not destroy it at all, I have a van mount and that is just like having an ro outside. in the winter I tuck it up in its duvet at night, in the summer its fine

Ive had one outside, it didnt get destroyed in the winter.

It was in full sun in the summer and didnt get algae growth.

Just cover it perhaps with a towel if heavy frost is forecast to help protect membranes from perishing.
