My personal opinion. Worry less about wether dirt gets on your pole hose and concentrate on finding quicker methods of working with wfp. Then you wouldn't give a monkeys about your pole, just think of the extra dosh you earned through learning to work quicker and just buy a new pole when the old one starts wearing out. That's what I do. Always getting faster and finding all the shortcuts I use to miss out before. :)

Fast can also work against you and i have had a customer or two over the years drop me for an old dodderer that takes ages. Some people are very old fashioned and think that if you take your time on a job you geta better result. Not necessarily true.

Totally agree with you. Some custies say to me, "god that was quick, have you finished already"? I get a bit fed up with making up smart answers for their remarks now. It's taken me a long time to get my speed up whilst still cleaning the windows thoroughly. I was very slow to start with, but now I'm fast, I couldn't go back to working slow just to please a customer as it would throw me out of my routine and method. :)

Okay, I know you are going to be dissapointed but this is a realistic and quite good solution to a real problem. It is fiddly and more time consuming to start but results in a better faster method of working.

The red harness is placed over your head and under one arm.The winding frame and tap is at the side of your upper body.

I'm sure there are other neater solutions and a proprietory product that did just this would no doubt find a market. Here it is, thanks for all the votes, enjoy.

Its only guy's like your self Clive that move wfp forward? A lot of us come out with little idea's that we feel makes our own routine a little more easier.

We then decide to share our idea's with everyone else,  if they wish to share your idea's then you have achieved  your aim, those who don't want to share any idea's that the few of us put on here, don't criticize other peoples efforts in trying to make our life's that little more easier.

Well done Clive and keep them coming

This is going better than I thought! The forum does seem to have a new found maturity. In view of this I would like to share with you another tip.At one time I was foreever inadvertantly pulling my pole hose out of the brush and completely out the pole by mistake- and then taking forever to thread it back through. This doesn't happen now because I put a nut on the pole hose which makes it impossible to pull past the collar.

HI all
ive had similar thoughts but for a small lightweight retractable hose reel that just holds enough for the pole hose when fully retracted then as you extend pole it gives what you need.
same as a retractable reel but attached to the end of the pole  .

the only thing ive seen that would be good is the single line retractable washing lines but it would just need to be half the size.

would be useful when using back packs in awkward places as you would never have trailing hoses
bad weather always looks worse through dirty windows

Yes, there is a version with a vacuum cleaner recoil, this doesn't fit to the pole because it adds weight. This was meant for van mounts, the important bits being that the reel hose is secured to your body, and so does the pole hose but in such a way as not to clutter.

I tie a light knot in the pole hose just after it comes out of the pole. Stops it going bck through and doesn't restrict the flow.
