Hi lads, about to change my resin for the first time
« on: July 12, 2008, 03:42:09 pm »
I have a 7litre canister.

Is there a particular method of measuring how much to put in?

Cheers.

I belive it to be a 3rd of the bottle or just a bit over,

Works for me, It's just that the water needs to be able to move around the resin.

I was always of the understanding that it should be filled up to the point where the vessel starts bending in at the top (about 3" from the top)

I fill mine to the neck like lion heart just said I dont pat or bang it down this gives just the right amount imo, fill it 3/4 this way and when it settles there will be less in there than you think

Before I bought a bag I use to just get it changed over by a local company....

Thank you very much, Now I know  ;)

I fill it up to the neck and DO tap it down several times on the way.  I'm not saying that mine is the right way but it's just the way I do it.
Just a guess here but is a looser fill of more benefit if the water is gushing through it faster - i.e. at the point of use ?  Apart from rare occasions, my only use for resin is after an RO so the flow is much lower than at the point of use.

Can channel is compact imo, loose it can flow over all the resin beads
