Not if it is only for a few seconds, for instance the time it takes you to sprint 10m!  :D

i do it all the time had mine for about 6 months sub pump no probs
i once left it running all night woops but no damage to sub pump hope this helps
the reason i left it running was the transfer pump cut out because the holding tank was empty so i forgot to turn the transfer pump off at the mains
so as tank was filling transfer pump switched itself back on
thank god i switched the tap to off other wise it will have discharged all my water as it was filling ;)

I have a centrifugal type submersible pump in my static tank, and a float valve in my van tank,... quite often the valve in the van will have stopped the water for an hour or so before I remember the pump,..... no damage to the pump yet tho.

I am just worried about the pump blowing the threads on the pump body as it doesnt seem to tighten very well and dont want to make the threads worse.

Just like to also say i cant believe i waited for so long to get a transfer pump it used to take 1 hour to fill the van now it takes 3 mins to fill a 650 l tank.

What a numpty i was must of cost my hundreds in waiting time

I left a pump running dry for 8 hours by accident because I fell asleep. When I woke up pump was still running dry, switched it off and unbelievably no damage done to the pump. It still works fine. :)

I have moaned at you for not sorting this earlier. The problem is when we involve how we think or feel, and forget this is a business.

Although you don't seem to mind spending on finer things you are a bit tight on the basics. You can't get any more basic to your business than water production. The more pro that is the more pro you are.

Discount keep moaning,   ;D  I am not tight on the basics , I have 2 fully stocked vans with twin set ups and about £4000 worth of poles, I have spent thousands.  :'(

I managed to get out there and get into wfp the very same day i decided, my water production was never really an issue, it was good for me at the time.

I had one or 2 hurdles to overcome before i got the ibc tanks.

1 garden is over 100ft long
2 no power supply
3 no water supply
4 no space
5 more other important things to buy, ie £1000 pole
5 time to sort it

I would say I am as pro as i can be at the moment, dont think water production makes me any more pro , just a bit  more efficient. There is 1000's of window cleaners di only, it is the accepted way around these parts with a tds reading of only 70

Everything is black and white on the forum isnt it.   ;D

p.s where do you live ?

I wasn't saying you weren't decisive. You just had a blind spot. The proof is that you would/should have done it sooner. Some things, bad luck etc you can't do anything about, others you can.

I don't read the forum to nit pick or be judgemental and I don't think your lapse was serious.

For example if you bought a load of gutter kit and found a great market I wouldn't say you should have done it sooner because you couldn't have known.Time and convenience saving of having pro transfer and water purity kit to feed three vans under any circumstances is something you did know about, so it wasn't even a decision you just had to do it as soon as poss.
