I let my diesel tank run down a fair bit.  That's how much it cost me today to bring it up to the brim.

I have just got a Transit and am off to fill it up tommorow dread to think how much it will cost hope its not over £100 like you i feel a customer price rise coming on or at least a cull and replace with better work
Mind you i think this week is the first week it hasnt gone up in price at the pumps in this area

£400 at most,lorries have to go in and pay and then go back to the pump to fill up,some will take £800.

spend £50 at tesco and get voucher for 5p a litre off at the pumps,then fill up      every little helps

Sainsbury's do that around my way.  Unfortunately, as I live on my own, it would be pretty difficult for me to spend £50 without wasting food so it would be a false economy.  Sainsbury's used to give 1p off per litre for £10 spent, 2p for £20 etc but stopped doing this ages ago.

Most vans will run on 50 -75% vegetable oil without any need for conversion in the summer,.. with a lower mix in the colder months.
In the UK I believe it is totally legal to do this once you use less than 2500 litres a year. You can get used oil from chippers/ Chinese take away's and just filter it!
In Ireland there is no legislation to make this legal yet,.. but as soon as it is, I'll be trying it!

If you have oil fired central heating you can do the same,..

I do very few miles in my doblo diesel van, lots of stop/starts which averages about 42mpg over about 600 miles a month. It does 55mpg on a run, but that is a very rare occurance.

The family car is a 7 yr old diesel pug estate and has a trip computer thing like the van. I went to Cardiff and back this weekend, five - up and being a round trip, door to door of 81 miles on m-way I thought I'd set the cruise control to 60/65, slip stream coaches (safely, not too close) and see what I could get mpg wise.

Including getting to Cardiff city centre and parking up in an almost full car park it took about 50 mins each way and averaged 62.4mpg!

Went to Alton Towers with a tailwind week before last, 4 up, cruised at 70 on motorway and got 60.1 mpg going and 55.7 mpg coming back (into wind).

So... drive like an old ....... and save the dosh.

(I've also started mixing in a bit of legal biomix which is very cheap)

Enthusiastic fuel burning is now the sole reserve of my motorbike!
