« on: July 10, 2008, 05:55:15 pm »
Any ideas ? Only a hallway 10sq m, but it was dirty and had paint specs all over it. Took 3hrs all in including 3 coats polish. Looks great now & customer chuffed.

Wow what a difference in price! I know I'd like to charge about £150 but it sounds too much. How much is amtico per sq m including fitting , as custys always remark that it costs a fortune.

I was about to write this floor probably cost in excess of 500 quid to be fitted.

The question I would ask is ....... if it was YOUR floor and it had been ruined by paint and it had cost you over 500 quid, do you think you would find someone to clean it AND seal and polish it for £65.00!!

Not a hope in hell.

Now it has been polished the floor most likely looks better than the day it was laid, it is also being protected against further wear.

It HAS to be worth £150.00 for your time, expertise, chemicals and machinery.

It is interesting to see the difference in thinking on price. The cleaners charging what they think is a good rate i.e £15 per hour and the carpet cleaners who see themselves as specialist and realise they are professionals at £50.00 per hour. It is all about perception and professionalism. If you charge £65 the customer will not value you and to be honest will think what an idiot whereas if you charge £150 he will know he has had a professional job well done.

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY John  ;D

Amtico costs between £35 and can go up to £120 easily if your adding patterns and borders, fitting depends on what borders and patterns your having,i`ve had the whole house done for 6 years and it`s brilliant stuff, ended up going over stairs with carpet though as it`s too noisy and the cappings were dangerous for the kids.I clean my own with the 3 bottles you get in the showroom (strip, clean and seal) and am trying to get into it commercially. Can you buy the cleaners in larger amounts wholesale and is there a course you can go on to learn it and gain a certificate to do it properly.I used to let a guy do mine every xmas with a buffer and a milky substance but he never got in the corners and a black sticky residue would form in places,i gave him the bullet and do it myself.I gave my fitter about 20 jobs and i know i could make a go of it while the driveway cleaning is slack in the winter. Thanks Dan.p.s the bloke who used to clean mine would be here 4 hours and charge £150.

Carefree is expensive but very good as the polish does not react with any remaining stripper unlike cheaper ones which can bleb up.
