Red wine stain
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:22:52 pm »
I have a red wine stain on a wool csrpet to treat tomorrow. Custy put white wine followed by shampoo of some sort.

Been a while since I did a wine stain. Was gonna attempt in the following order

a, rinse with water

b, pre-treat with pureclean

c, Try M/S

and if still no joy go to Rx followed by Iron use.

Is there anything I have missed?

Custy has been qualified.

Hi Pete,
I would rinse well with cold water first to remove anything the customer has tried using, Then apply stain pro or a protein spotter leave to dwell then rinse with cold water to emove the wine. You will then be left with the tannin mark, you need to apply browning prescription diluted 1-1 with cold water and apply, leave for 20 kins then rinse again with cold water.
If the stain is still visible use the red RX metod with the iron.
As a last resort you could try the oxi brite , fibre buff and fibre shampoo method.
Depending what the customer has used you may be in for a tough one mate.
Good luck Mark

Concur with Dave, except I would change Stain pro for Tannox on point 2. This means that 8 out of 10 times I dont need to go to point 4 ;)

Your starting to sound a bit like Len. Have priced on stain removal only. If she want the meta bi she will haver to cough up a bit more as I could be sitting around for a few hours.

rinse with an acid rinse, (to remove customer stuff, may remove stain at this stage),  then apply an acid stain remover, (alltec tea and coffee remover is the best I have come across), then rinse with acid rinse still in porty, hey presto stain has gone, well 9 out of 10.

red wine is on the acid side of the PH scale therefore requires an acid remover.

John,
did a loads of coffee/tea stain in an office block with the alltec it worked great, only problem now is I really can't stand the smell, so I have to use a mask if I do a lot of stains, suppose my mind/body is fed up with it.

No rinsing Mark, just brush in and leave to dry (no movers etc)
