As avid readers of this forum will know I have been looking seriously at small end WFP systems for the past two months and today was interesting:-

 - a wfp user I know kindly came and did a demo on my house and the results were interesting. He was using a tailor (home) made system out of a small van.

Being a cheapskate I haven't had all my windows replaced at once so they and the results were mixed - bear in mind the user has been experienced in its use for six months.

I had GG4'd the windows two weeks ago and they were pretty clean and all the frames had been wiped around including the tops.

The front and side of my house are newish brown UPVC              result     excellent no spots
The back upstairs is old metal-  painted (flaky) single glazing       result     OK a small run plus few spots
The back downstairs hardwood stained d/g window                    result     excellent a few spots
The back door - hardwood stained d/g twin unit                           result    Good with spots at top
(The door has a wooden panel above which was brushed and I conclude this brought down some muck onto the top of the pane)

Velux roof light in attic (not cleaned for over a year)                              result    Good a few spots

There you go! I know my rating is subjective (excellent = what I can do with a squeegee)

The WFP user says that the next clean will be better again.

when i got my wfp ,obviously wanted to try on my windows first, i was torturing  front for about 20 min. said to myself it must come out perfect, result- i nearly faint.  :ospots all over a windows. my wife said " nice , good way to waste money" i nearly agreed with her.
i tried again and again and that was it , after third  clean
they were very good. she didnt want to pay though

on a first clean you can stay on a single window and wash and rinse till the cows come home, and it will STILL spot
But if you simply wash it thoroughly and move on clean the rest of the windows, by the time you have done the last of them, gravity will have done its work, the glass will have dried out a little and you can go over them again, you may still end out with a little spottting here and there, but the overall result will be way better than if you had just stayed on the window washing and washing it.

you also have to remember that you are a beginner, you won't just have your system, connect it up and become an instant WFP expert
Before you unleash yourself on your 'suspicious' customers, practice on your own house, your mums house, your mates house and so on. Spend a couple of weekends getting to know what you are doing.
It won't be until you are going around your accounts the second time around that you will REALLY start to see the difference, first time cleans can be bloody hard work and you will wonder if you have done the right thing.

Thanks for the reassurance chaps:-

In the last week I've seen the resilts of two systems - one trolley on uncleaned aluminium windows and the one on my own house in the post above. Both were first wfp cleans and both fit in with descriptions provided by WFP users on this board.

In fact I think the windows were rather better than I had hoped especially for a first clean in both cases. I've now seen the results on several different types of frames too.

I've been GG4'ing since November, so hopefully the detergent spotting etc will be reduced to a minimum!

I've finally ordered a trolley system from Aquatec and I'll let you know how things progress!
Big learning curve coming up in February/March and I'm gonna take yours and Matts advice - break the customers in gently - awkwards windows and tops first and see how it goes!

But it's practice on my mum's and brothers places when the system is first set up over the next couple of weeks
